Irfan Pathan, Indian cricket team’s most eligible bachelor broke a million hearts when he tied the knot with Jeddah-based model, Safa Baig on February 4, 2016. And, he hosted a grand star-studded reception on March 8, 2016.

It was a grand event that saw over 2,000 guests. The venue was the grand Laxmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara, Gujarat. His elder brother, Yusuf Pathan’s wedding reception was also held at the same place in 2013. The banquet hall and Saket Garden of the Palace were booked for the grand reception. Golf carts were used to ferry the guests to the venue of the reception from the main entrance of the hotel. It was a lavish spread, and it is estimated that around 2 crore rupees were spent on the decoration and lighting of the place.

He was quoted as saying:
"Miya-biwi ka rishta bahut hi khoobsurat hota hai and it feels fantastic to start this new innings of my life. Uparwale ka bada ehsaan hai and I, Safa and all our family members are very happy today. I am also thankful that my friends, cricketers with whom I have played, seniors and well-wishers from outside the cricket fraternity and even abroad have come to my hometown to bless us on this day. I couldn't have asked for more and with all their blessings, I am sure that we will have a great journey ahead."

Cricketers like RP Singh, VVS Laxman, Parthiv Patel with his wife Avni, Unmukt Chand, Piyush Chawla, Gautum Gambhir, Vinay Kumar, Parvez Rasool, Kiran More and Krunal Pandya were present at the reception. Rajya Sabha MP, Parimal Nathwani was also present to bless the newlyweds. Newlyweds cricketer Robin Uthappa along with his wife Sheethal Goutham was also present. Television stars Mohit Malik and Aditi Shirwaiker were also seen at the wedding reception.
