It has been almost a decade since the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s cult sports movie, Chak De India, but people still remember the Chak De girls’ hockey team from the movie. And, when one of them recently got married in a hush-hush wedding in Delhi, people got a rare glimpse of the reunion of our favourite hockey-yielding girl power in action.

Actress-turned-experiential educator, Shubhi Mehta or more popularly known as Gunjan Lakhani of Chak De tied the knot on February 7, 2016 with her fellow colleague Apoorv Bajpai in Delhi. And the wedding was attended by Shubhi’s on-screen pals Chitrashi Rawat ( Komal Chautala), Shilpa Shukla (Bindya Nayak), Tanya Abrol (Balbir Kaur) and Aarya Menon (Gul Iqbal).

The couple met at the annual Experiential Educators conclave in 2014 and hit it off instantly. Shubhi, who has her own company, Excellerate, works part time as a consultant for careers with children at Inomi Company. However, cupid struck both and the couple found each other getting hitched two years later.

The wedding festivities which were a close-knit affair, began with a cocktail and mehendi ceremony at Shubhi’s home followed by the wedding taking place in Shubhi’s own garden. And Shilpa, Chitrashi and Aarya were seen having a good time.

In an exlcusive interview to BollywoodShaadis, Shubi Mehta has this to share:
“The wedding was a close-knit affair, with about a 100 or so people invited for the occasion. We invited all those people who have invested in our lives.”

The wedding party, although small, nonetheless comprised of people coming from all over the world. Choreographer Terrence Lewis, model Rishika Jairath, Marathi actress Shreya Bugade as well as RJ Darius Sunawala were present at the wedding to wish the bride and the groom. In fact, Shubhi's cousin Gaurav Bangia (winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and background vocalist) specially sang for the newlywed couple.
The wedding was followed by two receptions, one in Delhi and another in Lucknow as Apoorv belongs to the city.

Shubhi who is also an ex-Roadie has now shifted base from Mumbai to Gurgaon with husband Apoorv and is looking forward to this new phase in her life. Know what the newlywed bride has to say about her future plans:
“Apoorv and I are quite independent of each other’s work. In fact, we have different styles of operation, but we enjoy these differences a lot. Right now, we are settling down in our new house in Gurgaon.”
Upon being asked about her honeymoon plans, this is what Shubhi has to say:
“We are husband and wife on phone right now! We have barely got time to spend with each other since the wedding and we are planning for a summer honeymoon soon.”
