Anurag Kashyap is one of the most talented filmmakers in Bollywood. He has made his name in the Hindi film industry by creating masterpieces like Gangs of Wasseypur, Dobaaraa, Dev.D, Black Friday, Gulaal, Paanch, Manmarziyaan, Lust Stories, Satya and many more. Talking about his personal life, Anurag has been married twice. After getting divorced from Aarti Bajaj in 2009, Anurag got married to actress, Kalki Koechlin. However, the duo parted ways in 2015. Recently, Anurag's daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap exchanged rings with her beau, Shane Gregoire. And now, the doting daddy talked about his regrets over not being involved in his daughter's life.
In an interview with Film Companion, Anurag Kashyap opened up about not being involved in his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap's life. Talking about the same, the filmmaker mentioned that he was so busy building a career for himself that he didn't realise that he had isolated himself from everyone. Anurag recalled how he once saw a picture of his daughter and realised that time had already passed and he had missed some crucial years of her life. In his words:
"I’m very scared of losing loved ones. I’ve realised after a long time in the sense that… In my process of pursuing this… One film after another, I left a lot of things behind. But there comes a point where I realise my daughter has suddenly grown up. I see her old pictures and I’m like, Oh my god, I miss this."

Further, in the same conversation, Anurag recalled that it was the time when his ex-wife, Aarti, his friend, Imtiaz Ali and his family were reminiscing the fond memories of their holiday together when he realised that he had missed so much in his life. The filmmaker added that listening to their stories, he realised that Imtiaz has spent more time with his daughter, Aaliyah than him.
Anurag added that he was really guilty of not spending enough time with his daughter. He mentioned that even though she has forgiven him for his absence in her life, he still feels that he could have borrowed some time from his tight schedule. Elaborating more about it, Anurag said:
"You don’t even know whether to apologise, because it’s too late to apologise. My daughter is all grown up. She has forgiven me. She has come out and talked to me. Why were you always working so much? And I would try to explain I made low budget films. I had to do twice the amount of work. Or three times the amount of work. And she understood, but still, you know, one could have made time."
In the same conversation, Anurag opened up about his daughter, Aaliyah, receiving hate on social media. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that she gets affected by the trolling. Mentioning how the online hate triggers her anxiety, Anurag said:
"People start attacking her, trolling her. She’s a social media kid. She gets affected by trolling. She started getting anxiety."

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Anurag had opened up about his daughter, Aaliyah's engagement. For the unversed, Aaliyah exchanged rings with her beau, Shane Gregoire on August 3, 2023. Talking about the same, the filmmaker jokingly mentioned that he was glad that he was invited to the ceremony. Anurag also stated that when he got to know about Shane's proposal through social media. Further, he added that his daughter is very much like him and his ex-wife, Aarti Bajaj. In his words:
"I am so glad I was invited. I got to know (about the proposal) through social media first, but this time I was there - I was invited. My little one grew up too fast, she has a mind of her own. She is pretty much like her mother and father, we are both stubborn people, I think she is also as stubborn and has a mind of her own."
