Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are one of the most-loved veteran couples in Tinseltown. The duo, who have been married for almost 50 years now, have stayed beside one another through thick and thin, and have shed inspirational couple goals for their fans like no other. For the unversed, the duo fell in love while working together and got married on June 3, 1973. They are blessed with a daughter, Shweta and a son, Abhishek.
In a recent episode of the quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan spoke about his traditional Bengali wedding with wifey, Jaya Bachchan. The actor mentioned that he didn’t want to wear the traditional topor at his wedding, and added how he apologised to his wife’s family for the same. He mentioned:
“This conical cap is worn during the wedding in Bengal. You all know that I have a connection with Bengal. I don’t know why they made this and made people wear this. I didn’t like it so I asked Jaya’s family members and said I apologise, I will marry your daughter, Jaya but please don’t make me wear this topi.”

In his previous appearance at Komal Nahta’s show, The Starry Night, Amitabh Bachchan had spoken about his wife, Jaya and mentioned that she is his worst critic. He mentioned how Jaya often criticises him for the kind of roles he did in the past. Not only this, Big B also added how she once walked out of one of his trials. In his words:
“She will see a film (and say) ‘What is this kind of film that you are doing?’ And there have been times in the past when she has walked out of one my trials (auditions) and there has been some kind of domestic problem when I get home."
In the same interaction, Amitabh praised Jaya for her instincts and revealed how, after just meeting a person once, she is able to predict that person’s capability of making a good film. Moreover, hilariously adding, Big B revealed how Jaya’s instinct about him was absolutely correct.

In an earlier episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, Amitabh Bachchan engaged in a fun banter with a contestant, whose name was Jaya Patel. During the rounds of the quiz show, Jaya, who is a teacher by profession, revealed that she turns strict when at school, and gentle when at home. After that, she quickly quipped in and asked the actor about his experience he has got with the name, Jaya, which was a seeming hint at the actor’s wife, Jaya Bachchan. To this, Big B gave a very interesting response and accepted that he was scared of his wife, who is very strict. Elaborating more, Amitabh mentioned:
“She's strict and lenient too. I'm saved. I have to go home. I don't want to be thrashed. So, when she's strict it's better if you stay in. Stay locked in your room or go out for a while. When she's lenient, it's great. That's how she is towards her kids and everyone else. She's stricter with me. Why did you ask me this? When I will watch this show with her, she will scold me. It scares me so I don't talk much about my personal life.”
