Amitabh Bachchan is one of the legendary actors in Bollywood. Married to Jaya Bachchan, he is a proud father of their two kids, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. Big B is an avid social media user and often treats his fans with unseen and unheard anecdotes of his life. Moreover, his alleged relationship with Rekha was and continues to be a topic of discussion among the gossipmongers. Amid all this, Amitabh Bachchan dropped a picture featuring Rekha on social media and left everyone surprised.
On January 21, 2024, taking to his Blog, Amitabh Bachchan shared a vintage photo from his younger days in the industry, which was taken from an event in the 70s. The photo features Rekha, Raj Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, music director, Kalyan, Randhir Kapoor, Mehmood, and Shammi Kapoor standing on a stage. In the picture, Big B was seen holding a mic in his hand and interacting with the audience whereas Rekha was standing in the far corner of the stage. Sharing the photo, Amitabh teased that there is a big story behind the picture and wrote:
“Aaahhh .. there is a huge story behind this photograph .. someday it shall be narrated ..”

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan had met each other on the sets of Do Anjaane (1976) when the latter was already married to Jaya Bachchan. The duo developed feelings for each other, and soon, rumours about their alleged affair started pouring in. However, their relationship never attained a happily ever after, and both of them went their separate ways. Despite being the other woman in the relationship, Rekha’s unrequited love for Mr Bachchan never faded, and her eyes still lit up at the mere mention of him.
When Rekha graced Simi Garewal's chat show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, she shared interesting stories about various anecdotes of her life. During the conversation, Simi asked Rekha if she loved Amitabh Bachchan, and the latter replied "Absolutely! Duh, that's a dumb question!" Then, Rekha also generalised her statement smartly and said:
"I'm yet to come across a man, woman, child, who can't help but fall completely, passionately, insanely, desperately and especially, hopelessly, in love with him. So why should I be singled out? You want to know the truth? There was never a personal connection with him. That's the truth. What do I deny? I'm not in love with him? Of course, I am. Duniya bhar ka love aap le lijiyega and add some more - I feel that for that person. Bottomline."

There is no denying the fact that Rekha was once head-over-heels in love with Amitabh Bachchan, and their alleged romance was the talk of the town. However, destiny had different plans, and the actress tied the knot with businessman, Mukesh Aggarwal. After their marriage, Rekha learnt that her husband was suffering from chronic depression, and on October 2, 1990, he decided to take his life. After her husband's tragic death by suicide, Rekha was labelled as a cold-hearted man-eater by the nation. However, she never got married again.
