Rishi Kapoor had broken a million hearts when he had declared his love for the actress, Neetu Singh. The two had set major couple goals with their cute camaraderie.
Neetu had started dating Rishi when she was just 14 years old. He was already a well-established actor, while she was new into the industry. Their first film together was 'Zehreela Insaan' (1974).
It was not love at first sight for the beautiful pair. Rishi was a prankster and would often tease Neetu on the sets. However, Neetu had fallen for the guy, who had irritated her the most.
Neetu’s mom, Rajee was not too happy with their relationship and she didn't want any rumours to spread. So, whenever Rishi would take Neetu out on a date, her mother would accompany them.
When Rishi had proposed Neetu, she was not much happy. Being the sole breadwinner of the house, she didn't want to leave her mother alone. So, Rishi had invited Rajee to stay with them after marriage.
It was at a wedding in Rishi’s family in Delhi, when his family had decided to announce their engagement. All this had given Neetu jitters and Rishi had given her a glass of bubbly to calm her nerves.
The Kapoor family was known to be very patriarchal and a Kapoor 'bahu' was expected to leave the industry and become a housewife. After their wedding, Neetu too had done the same.
Neetu had returned all her signing amounts and had left the industry for good. After that, some people had claimed that Neetu was forced into an early retirement. But, she had hit back at the reports.
In the late 1990s, there were reports that Rishi had turned an alcoholic, and Neetu had filed a domestic violence complaint against him. However, Neetu had returned to her husband, proving them wrong.
The couple came out of all these controversies and supported each other through the highs and lows of life. Neetu and Rishi had sorted out all the differences and had become stronger.
On September 29, 2018, Rishi Kapoor had tweeted about taking a short break and had said that he was going to America for medical treatment. Later, Neetu had revealed that he was suffering from Cancer.
In an interview with the Times Now, Neetu had revealed that she and her kids were devastated after hearing about Rishi's cancer. But she had stood like a pillar of strength for him in that dark phase.
On April 29, 2020, Rishi Kapoor was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital when he had complained of feeling uneasy. It was his brother, actor Randhir Kapoor, who had confirmed the news.
And, on April 30, 2020, the nation was shocked by the news of Rishi Kapoor’s death. The 67-year-old actor, who was fighting with cancer for two years had bid adieu to his friends, family and his fans.
