Who can forget the 2015 World Cup, when Dhoni was in Australia serving the nation, and his wife was about to deliver their first child? Dhoni had refused to return home to be with his wife and had missed his first child's birth because he was on 'National duty'. Not only this, his family couldn't reach him because he keeps his mobile off during important tournaments, so they had called his best friend, Suresh Raina, to deliver the good news. What Dhoni had sacrificed for the country can never be paid back, and probably this is the reason little Ziva receives so much love from everyone in the country.
On Ziva's sixth birthday, we found a super adorable picture of the little one on Dhoni's team CSK's official Twitter handle. In the unseen picture, Ziva can be seen sitting on the top of the cabinet of Dhoni's wardrobe in CSK's dressing room, and her papa can be seen looking up at her. On Ziva's fifth birthday i.e., on February 5, 2020, her star parents had returned from their Maldives vacation on her birthday eve to celebrate their little one’s special day with her. The doting mommy, Sakshi had shared a framed family picture on her Instagram story and in the background, we could hear her wishing her little one on her birthday. Sakshi had written, “@ziva_singh_dhoni see you in few hours” followed by a heart atop it.
For a show on Star Sports, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had expressed how his daughter, Ziva Singh Dhoni has changed him as a person. Speaking about fatherhood, Dhoni had stated, "I don't know whether it has changed me as a cricketer, as a person yes of course because daughters are very close to their fathers. In my case the problem is when she (Ziva) was born I was not there (three years ago), most of the time I was playing cricket, so everything bad somehow is thrown at me (to deal with)." Sakshi Singh Dhoni and Ziva Singh Dhoni always accompanied Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his matches and were his constant cheerleaders. Speaking of his routine back then, Dhoni had stated, "I had a wonderful time with her (Ziva), she was there for the whole of IPL and one of her biggest requests used to be I have to go to the ground, that is lawn for her. And also, there are lot of kids in the team. I would get up by 1:30, 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon. Ziva is up by the time, she gets up by 8.30 or 9, have her breakfast, engage with everyone, start playing... I feel it just relaxes us a bit more when the kids are playing with each other. I don't know how much she follows cricket, how much she understands, but I have to bring her one day for the post match presentation and she (can) just start answering all the questions.”
Little Ziva is fond of her papa, a glimpse of which we had seen on Dhoni's birthday last year. On July 7, 2020, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had turned a year older and his little girl, Ziva had given him the most special gift. A video was uploaded on Ziva's official Instagram handle with the caption, "Happy Bday Papa! This is for my Papa! @mahi7781, I love you." In the video, we could hear Ziva sing Doris Day's famous, Que Sera Sera along with a slideshow of numerous pictures of the daddy-daughter duo and their family.
