In the world of glamour, relationships are unpredictable. While some end their decade long relationships and marriages and still stay friends and some tie knot with their childhood love and reinstate our faith in love. But the one thing the glamour world has taught us is to stay happy with whom so ever you choose to spend your life with. Veteran actor, Dharmendra is one such celebrity, who has proved that key to a happy relationship is always love.
Dharam Singh Deol, known as Dharmendra is known as the ‘He-Man’ of the Indian cinema. Considered among one of the finest actors of Bollywood, Dharmendra has given us some splendid performances in movies like Phool Aur Pathar, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Resham Ki Dori, Sholay and many more. Voted among the ten most handsome men in the world in the 70s, the Punjab da Putar had fallen madly in love with the southern beauty, Hema Malini while he was already married to Prakash Kaur. Dharmendra ji had married Prakash Kaur in 1957 and despite that, the actor had married Hema Malini after allegedly converting into Islam, so that he could keep his two marriages.
Although, there are not many pictures of Dharmendra with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, we have recently stumbled upon an unseen picture of the duo. The picture in question was from a wedding function of producer, Sher Jeng Singh Punchee, where Dharm ji was seen with his first wife, Prakash Kaur as the two had posed on the stage for a picture. In the picture, Dharam ji had looked handsome as ever in royal blue coloured suit and Prakash ji had complemented him in a brown silk saree.
Take a look:
Dharmendra had married Prakash Kaur when he was only 19. The couple has four children, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Vijeeta Deol and Ajeeta Deol. There are hardly any interviews of Prakash Kaur as she doesn’t like talking to media. But in a rare interview with Stardust, Prakash Kaur had talked about her husband, Dharmendra and had said, “He (Dharam) is the first love and the last man in my life. He is the father of my children. I love and respect him a lot. What has happened has happened. I don't know whether I should blame him or my destiny for it. But one thing is certain, however far he may be from me, whatever might happen, but if I need him, I know that he'll be there. I have not lost my trust in him. After all, he is the father of my children.”
Prakash had also revealed her role in Dharm ji's life and had retorted, "He may not be the best husband, though he is very good to me, but he is certainly the best father. His children love him a lot. He never neglects them. He is even launching Ajay's career. Everyone thought that I had made a deal with my husband that he could marry Hema if he launched my son's career. That is not true. How can such a thing be possible? Isn't Sunny as much his son as mine? Doesn't he love him as much as I love him."
In the same interview, the Jatt wife had also revealed that she doesn’t feel the need to prove the kind of relationship she shares with her husband. Speaking about the same, she had shared, "I am learning to stand on my own. But why should I protect myself when I have my husband to protect me? I don't care what the world may say about the kind of relationship I share with my husband. Where I am concerned I know that my husband is protecting all of us. He comes home every day and spends time with the children." She had further added, "I don't say that he comes home for me. But what is important is that he does come home."
Dharam ji had ringed in new year of 2018 with his first wife, Prakash and kids, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Sunny had taken to his IG handle and had shared a beautiful picture with his parents and brother. Along with the complete family picture, Sunny had written, “Happy new year. #newyear #love.” Bobby had also shared the same picture on his official Insta handle and had captioned it as “Happy new year. Love love love to all.”
