Born to superstars, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, it was certain that Twinkle Khanna would follow the footsteps of her parents and would venture into acting. She had made her debut in 1995 with the film, Barsaat opposite, Bobby Deol, for which she had received Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. After doing some other films, which had failed to leave their mark at the box-office, Twinkle had decided to leave acting. After leaving acting, Twinkle had begun writing. Her debut novel was declared as a bestseller and Twinkle had gotten her pen name, Mrs Funnybones.

Twinkle Khanna had gotten married to Bollywood’s handsome hunk, Akshay Kumar in 2001 in a private ceremony after dating him for some time. The adorable couple are parents to two lovely kids, Aarav and Nitara. She is enjoying her perfect life and we often get glimpses of the same through her social media handles as she loves posting little anecdotes from her life.
Twinkle is the first child of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Do you know that she shares her birthday with her superstar daddy? Yes, it was on Rajesh Khanna’s 31st birthday, when Dimple had given him the sweetest surprise in the form of their baby girl, Twinkle. We recently stumbled upon a throwback picture of Twinkle, moments after she was born. In the picture, Rajesh Khanna had held their newborn baby girl, Twinkle in his arms, while Dimple had lovingly looked at him. The picture was published in a newspaper article, where it was mentioned that Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s baby girl, Twinkle was born in Jaslok Hospital and had weighed seven pounds.
After a few years of his marriage to Dimple Kapadia, Rajesh Khanna’s stardom had started fading away as his movies were not doing that well in the '70s and '80s. As a result, the superstar couldn’t handle the failure and it had affected his relationship with Dimple. Despite several attempts, Dimple couldn’t mend her failing marriage and as a result, she had left him in 1984 and had later admitted that marrying a superstar was a wrong decision. In an interview with India Today, she had stated, “The life and happiness in our house came to an end the day I and Rajesh got married.” For those who don't know, Rajesh Khanna had madly loved his daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna and they were the only reason why he had never divorced Dimple Kapadia.

Twinkle had shared a warm bond with her father, Rajesh Khanna and now misses his presence in her life. On June 20, 2020, Twinkle Khanna had taken to her Instagram handle to wish her late father, Rajesh Khanna on Father’s Day. Sharing a monochrome picture from her childhood with her daddy dearest, Twinkle had shared that she knows Father’s Day is on Sunday, but for her, it will always be in December. Sharing the reason why, she wrote, “Father’s Day may be this Sunday but for me it will always be in December. “He told my mother that I was the best present she could have ever given him as I entered the world, feet first, on his 31st birthday. He called me Tina Baba, never baby, and though I didn't realise it at that point, my upbringing was different from all the other young girls around me.”"
In the same blogpost, Twinkle Khanna had also revealed the dating advise her father had given to her. She had written, “When I started dating, we exchanged advice. He told me that he was looking for a partner who would lie down in his lap as they would read the same book together. I laughed, “Dad, this is never going to happen. Your expectations are ridiculous. What if they read slower than you or want to take a break? Just find a decent woman who can tolerate your nonsense and that should be enough.” He was equally sagacious with me, “Don’t have one boyfriend,’ he once said to me, “always have four at a time, that way your heart will never be broken.” A suggestion that held me in good stead, though I never told him that the only man who had the power to break my heart was my father.”
