Indian singer, Udit Narayan is one of the prominent names in Indian cinema. While everyone loved his surgery voice, not many knew about his controversial personal life. The singer tried his best to hide his first marriage with his wife, Ranjana Jha Narayan. However, she dragged him to court and later, he accepted her as his first wife. Despite all the odds and hateful comments, Ranjana never expressed anger towards Deepa Narayan Jha.
Not many know Udit Narayan tied the knot with Deepa Narayan, who was also a playback singer while being married to Deepa Narayan. However, things turned ugly when Ranjana, who hails from Bihar, filed a complaint against him in the Women's Commission in Patna. But, in the end, they had a happy ending after Udit accepted her as his wife.
Ranjana Jha Narayan married Udit Narayan in 1984 in the Supaul district. In July 2006, after a brutal legal fight, Ranjana got justice. The commission headed by Manju Prakash had presented a draft agreement to the duo. After Udit accepted her as his first wife, Ranjana talked about his second wife, Deepa Jha Narayan and their son, Aditya Narayan.
In a written statement, Ranjana also accepted that she had no hate towards the singer's wife, Deepa and their son, Aditya, born on August 6, 1987. She had also agreed to withdraw the complaint she had lodged against the singer. Her statement could be read as:
"I have no complaint or grievances against the singer’s wife, Deepa Narayan, and their son Aditya, born on August 6, 1987."
In a media interaction, Ranjana had bared her heart out on how difficult it was to get legal rights. However, she said that she finally got her rights as she never demanded anything monetary.
The two ladies had met in Bihar and seemed to enjoy their time together. There was no animosity between them. According to reports, it was revealed that Deepa had kissed Ranjana's cheeks at their airport before they had left for Mumbai. In a media interaction, Udit Narayan talked about the bond both his wives share. He had said:
"Yes, Deepa met that lady (Ranjana). The lady came to meet us. And we met her very nicely. Deepa met her cordially. People who expected fireworks between the two were disappointed. After I went to the State Commission For Women and said and did what I had to, when I have agreed to a monthly stipend for her sustenance, why should there be any stress between the two women? Or any controversies?"
Udit Narayan, born on December 1, 1955, made his singing debut with Rajesh Roshan's film, Unees-Bees. He got immense love for his song, Papa Kahte Hai, which was everyone's favourite song in the 90s. It's been 42 years in Bollywood, yet Udit Narayan's magic has not faded an ounce. Despite all the controversy, he has seen immense success.
In 2022, Udit Narayan's family got bigger with the arrival of his granddaughter, Tvisha, daughter of Aditya Narayan and his wife, Shweta Agarwal Jha.
