It is rightly said that kids learn from what they see instead of what you tell them to do and to teach them right values and good habits, parents need to follow it themselves for their little ones to copy. As much as we would want them to eat healthily, learn good values and balance studying and playing, it is important for the parents to instil the same strategically. While it is a struggle for most parents to make their kids sit and spend some time reading, for Twinkle Khanna, it doesn’t seem like a challenge as her little angel, Nitara is a voracious reader, following the footsteps of her author-mommy. Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are proud parents of two wonderful kids, Aarav Kumar and Nitara. While Akshay has always impressed us with his acting talent and motivates us with his energy and fitness, Twinkle can defeat anybody with her words and wit. Glimpses of the same can be seen in her social media posts. For instance, in October 2020, Twinkle posted a couple of pictures with Aarav and Nitara, and had written about the struggles of being a mom. Twinkle had captioned the pictures as "Being a mom involves quick transitions-it’s a matter of seconds before you go from lazing peacefully on into the midst of a war zone!"
Twinkle Khanna often gives glimpses of her voracious reader, Nitara and how much the mother-daughter duo loves reading. Once again, Twinkle posted a picture of her morning routine with Nitara, doing what they love the most i.e., reading at their favourite corner in the house. Twinkle captioned the post as “‘You have a quota-25 pages a day and so do I.’ She asks, ‘But who gives you the quota mama?’ ‘That’s the tricky part of being an adult. You have to give yourself these tasks and make sure you stick by them.’ With brushed teeth and uncombed hair, we begin our mornings in the best way possible. It may not be 25 pages everyday, sometimes it’s merely 5, but it all adds up eventually. #readingcorner.”
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s baby girl, Nitara had turned 8 in 2020 and the doting parents had expressed in their birthday wishes on social media, what their daughter means to them. While Akshay had written, "As much as everyone would like to see the back of 2020, I wish this moment, this year, this chance to spend so much time with my kids would last forever, these opportunities are my Silver Lining to 2020. Happy 8th Birthday to my Princess, my Happiness, my Reason to still be a Big Kid. I love my baby girl more than I knew was possible", Twinkle had captioned her post as "My little one turns 8! Along with all the strange and wonderful bits and bobs that seem to permeate her universe, the first copy of our children’s book-When I Grow Up I Want To Be.. has also been presented to her-for a review. In a 2017 interview with Bollywood Life, Twinkle Khanna had spoken about her feisty daughter, Nitara and her love for reading. When asked would Nitara be just as sharp with her words like mommy when she grows up, Twinkle had retorted, "I don't know, she's too young. I know she loves to read and I know she has got a mind of her own. I know that she is fiesty. That sounds something similar to somebody in my family but yeah, let's see."
In an interview with The Week, when Twinkle Khanna was asked, “Since you both, as you mentioned, are strong, opinionated individuals, how are you raising your kids—Aarav and Nitara?” she had replied, “What we are trying to do, is to raise fundamentally good human beings. I can’t tell you whether we have succeeded; parenting never seems to get over. Or, at least, my mother doesn’t believe that it gets over. She, even now, nags me about how I should change the parting of my hair, or how I should serve guests tea with three-tiered biscuits. I would say that we have never had clashes as far as parenting is concerned.
