When on June 14, 2020, the news channels had flashed the headlines of actor, Sushant Singh Rajput's death, everyone had thought it to be a hoax. His friends, family and fans couldn't believe that the versatile actor, who was always full of life, could take the drastic step of suicide. Sushant's death had not just come as a big shock but had also raised many unanswered questions.
Among those, who were broken into pieces with the sad news of Sushant's death, was his former girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande. For the unversed, Sushant and Ankita had met on the popular show, Pavitra Rishta, where the duo had played the lead characters. After falling in love on the sets, Sushant and Ankita had dated for six years before breaking up in 2016.

Ever since Sushant's death, his sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, has been posting throwback memories with him. In the comment section of one of the posts of Shweta, a fan raised allegations on Ankita Lokhande for using his name to gain publicity. The fan wrote, "Shweta Singh Kirti why do u support Ankit lokhnde be she hd been using Sushant n her fake affair vd him for her PR. In fact she is one partying vd most of the suspects involved in Annihilation OF SUSHANT."
Shweta responded to the fan and supported Ankita, stating that the actress had been through Sushant's side through thick and thin. Replying to the fan, Shweta wrote, "Drdivya I really don’t know what the truth is... but it is hard for me to overlook how Ankita has always stood by the family even after the death of Bhai."
Shweta further shared how she had witnessed Ankita taking care of Sushant during one of her visits and continued, "I have seen her take care of Bhai, once when I was visiting him in Mumbai and he had stomach pain I saw how she called the doc, gave him medicine and showered him with love. The act was enough to prove to me that she has a kind and loving heart."

Showing her faith in the investigation while praying for justice, Shweta concluded, "I have full faith in the CBI and I am waiting for them to tell us the truth. I am praying to God everyday so that the truth comes out and I believe there is no bigger power than him. Have faith and stay strong."
On Sushant’s first death anniversary, i.e., June 14, 2021, Ankita had shared an emotional video, which had comprised of some beautiful moments of the two. Along with the heart-wrenching video, Ankita had written, “14 June This was our journey!!!! Phir milenge chalte chalte.”

Sushant was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020, and the case is still being investigated by the CBI.
