Late Actor, Sushant Singh Rajput Honoured At Dadasaheb Phalke Awards Left Netizens Fuming And Angry

Late Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput was everyone's favourite because of his struggle story and super-humble nature, despite being a big name in the Indian film industry. The actor had stunned everyone with his exceptional performances in movies like Kai Po Che!, Kedarnath, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sonchiriya, and Chhichhore. Another big reason people were in love with this golden-hearted man is the bond he used to share with his late mother, and he had never skipped a chance to credit his mother for all the success he had achieved in his life. But sadly, in the afternoon of June 14, 2020, television screens had started screaming one of the saddest headlines of that year, 'Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide'. The news was all over the internet within seconds, and Twitter was covered with his movies' hashtags. Sadly, after all these months, we are still unable to know what had happened in reality in that apartment on June 14 with Sushant.

On February 20, 2021, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021 has posthumously honoured Sushant Singh Rajput with Critics Best Actor award for his performance in hit-film, Chhichhore. The decision had left Sushant's entire fanbase in tears, as it had bought back all the wonderful memories of the actor, but soon the emotional fans took a grip on their emotions and started questioning the organisers' decision to honouring him with this award. While some people accused the makers of trying to grab headlines with Sushant's name, some stated that they would've never given Sushant this award if he would've been alive today. The furious and heartbroken fans left no stone unturned in teaching event organisers the important lesson that there's no point in acknowledging one's talent after he/she is gone forever. Take a look:

For the uninitiated, Chhichhore was released back in 2019 and had broken the box-office records with its surreal success. From its soulful music to it's impressive and quite-real picturisation of the college days, and some critics had even labelled it as incredible as the best movie based on college life in Bollywood's history, 3 Idiots. However, not a single award was given to Chhichhore at that time, and it had angered billions of movie buffs. That is one of the biggest reasons why tons of people are finding it quite disrespectful to honour an actor who was never appreciated while he was alive. Earlier this year, January 21, 2021, had marked the 35th birth anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput. On the auspicious day, his sister, Shweta Singh Kirti had announced a $35,000 by the Sushant Singh Rajput Memorial Fund. Shweta had taken to her IG handle to announce the same and had shared that a step has been taken to fulfil her brother's dream. Sharing a picture of one of his old IG posts, Shweta had written, "I am happy to announce that on 35th Birthday of Bhai, a step has been taken towards fulfilling one of his dreams. The Sushant Singh Rajput Memorial Fund of $35,000 has been set up in UC Berkeley. Anyone who is interested in pursuing Astrophysics at UC Berkeley can apply for this fund.
