It was in 1954 when the He-Man of Bollywood, Dharmendra had married Prakash Kaur and the now-estranged couple is blessed with four children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol and Ajeita Deol. Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur’s married life had hit the rocks when he had fallen for the Dream Girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini. While Prakash Kaur’s life had revolved around her family, she had refused to divorce Dharmendra when he had wanted to marry Hema Malini. Dharmendra had converted to Islam in order to marry Hema Malini, and when he was tagged as a womaniser back then, Prakash Kaur had come out in his support.
On September 1, 2020, Prakash Kaur turned a year older and to make this day even more special, her sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol posted lovely pictures with their mom. While Sunny posted an all-smiling picture with his mother, Bobby posted a throwback picture with his mom and brother. And both the pictures reflect the relationship and love the mother-son trio share with each other. Sunny captioned his picture with his mother as “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM #happybirthday #mom.” On his post, Bobby commented, “Maa happy birthday” followed by a kissing emoji. In a throwback interview, Dharmendra’s first wife, Parkash Kaur had defended her husband for being tagged as a womaniser. She had said, “Why only my husband, any man would have preferred Hema to me. How dare anyone call my husband a womaniser when half the industry is doing the same thing? All heroes are having affairs and getting married a second time.” Sympathising with Hema Malini, she had added, “I can understand what Hema is going through. Even she has to face the world, her relatives and her friends. But if I were in Hema’s place, I would not have done what she did. For, as a woman, I can understand her feelings. But as a wife and a mother I do not approve of them.”
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol have no grudges against their step-mom, Hema Malini and their half-sisters, Esha Deol Takhtani and Ahana Deol Vohra. But keeping in mind the complexities and sensitivity of their relationship, they prefer to maintain a safe distance. Sunny and Bobby had also missed Esha and Ahana’s weddings and according to a Times Of India report, a source had revealed the reason behind the same. The source had stated, “Both Sunny and Bobby love Esha and Ahana a lot. They’re very much the doting protective Big Brothers. Whenever they are abroad, Sunny and Bobby bring suitcases filled with shoes, belts and clothes for Esha and her sister. They wouldn’t have liked to miss the big day for anything in the world. But finally, the fragility of the world that Dharmendra has created within and outside his home, had to be kept in mind.” And a friend of the Deols had stated, “Sunny and Bobby couldn’t attend Esha’s wedding was a personal defeat for Dharamji. It was a reminder of the fact that his two families would never be the one.
