There are some love stories that are not meant to be forever. Sometimes, two people who are madly in love with each other are not meant to stay together. While some couples find their destiny together, some have to part ways because of uncertain circumstances. The same was happened to the then-lovebirds of Bollywood, Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor, who were about to get married. Still, their relationship got broken as destiny had stored something else for them.
For those who don't know, back in the year 2002, the Bachchan and the Kapoor family had announced the engagement of Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor. The then-couple dated for five years before getting engaged with the blessings of their families. However, later in the year 2003, their relationship took an ugly turn and the duo got separated. Now, the director of their film, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Suneel Darshan opened up about their relationship and revealed the reason behind their separation.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Suneel Darshan opened up about the relationship between Bollywood actor, Abhishek Bachchan and the diva, Karisma Kapoor. Talking about their love-hate relationship, the director revealed that the duo were not destined to be together. He even mentioned that Abhishek and Karisma used to fight a lot, and there was constant bickering. In his words:
"They were really not the ‘made for each other’ kind. There was constant bickering. Maybe that’s how some people are. I always wondered if they are really the ‘made for each other’ kind of pair. Abhishek is a sweet fellow. Lolo is a very nice person too. But maybe some things are destined."
For the unversed, it was on Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration, when Jaya Bachchan had announced the engagement of her son, Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor. Welcoming her then-to-be daughter-in-law, Karisma Kapoor into the family, Jaya Bachchan had said:
"I would, with the Bachchan and Nanda family, welcome another family into our group and that’s the Kapoors - Randhir and Babita Kapoor. And to-be my daughter-in-law, Karisma Kapoor. That’s Abhishek’s gift to his parents on his father’s 60th birthday."

Their beautiful paradise ended, and the duo moved on in their lives. Later on September 29, 2003, Karisma Kapoor got married to the industralist, Sunjay Kapur and got blessed with two kids, Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Raj Kapoor. However, the duo got divorced in the year 2016 and parted ways. On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan is happily married to Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. And the couple is proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Aaradhya Bachchan.
