The elated daddy, Sumeet Vyas had announced the arrival of his little bundle of joy on his Instagram handle. Sumeet had posted, “It’s a boy. Shall be called Ved. Mamma and Daddy are acting cliche...smothering the child every few minutes.” Soon, Sumeet and Ekta’s social media handles flooded with congratulatory messages from their friends and family. In a conversation with the Hindustan Times, the doting daddy, Sumeet Vyas opens up about his feelings and emotions after becoming a father. He said, "It’s only been a few days so we are also getting into the rhythm of things. We got back home yesterday and are settling in. Right now, we are in the phase where we have sleepless nights and being on dad duty as he demands a lot of attention. Ekta hasn’t been able to sleep properly and sleep when she can in the day." Further in the conversation, the Permanent Roommates star expressed how the feeling of a 'would-be-dad' and holding a baby in your arms, is totally different, and that he is practically obsessing over his little bundle of joy. He added, "You see people obsessing over their kids and you think you won’t behave in the same manner. But ever since, I’ve held my son, I am obsessing over him. You stop caring about what people think (about your behaviour) and are simply too engrossed with your child. You are so enamoured by your child that it is impossible not to fall in love with him."
Sumeet also shared that he's thankful for the fact that they had the delivery at his aunt's maternity home where they were the only patients, so there was no 'cause for concern regarding Covid-19'. He shared, "My aunt was so sweet and even arranged home-cooked food while we were in the maternity home. It turned out to be a great decision and a blessing." He further expressed that he feels lucky that this lockdown gave him ample time to spend with his wife, otherwise he would have busy shooting for most days. He said, "The lockdown has made me appreciate and reflect on life and things we take for granted. There is a lot of gratitude for all that we have. Now, I will have quality time with my child too." In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Sumeet Vyas had revealed the reason behind naming their son, Ved. Narrating the story behind it, Sumeet had said, “Long ago, one of our relatives was having a child and we were discussing names when Ved came up and stayed with me. I decided if I have a boy, I’ll name him Ved. Since we come from the line of, it makes sense.” Describing the emotions on becoming a father, Sumeet had expressed his ‘unmatched feeling’ and had said, “You do all those clichéd things that you once laughed at. Humans are so predictable.” Sumeet had also revealed that it was a normal delivery, and had continued, "We couldn’t trust a multi-facility hospital at a time like this.
