From being a music composer to a singer, actor and a reality show judge, Himesh Reshammiya has come a long way in Bollywood. Apart from his professional achievements, Himesh is riding high in his personal life too. In 2018, while our Instagram feeds were flooded with #EverydayPhenomenal wedding pictures of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, after Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, Himesh Reshammiya and his longtime ladylove, Sonia Kapur had surprised us with their secret wedding. On May 11, 2018, Himesh and Sonia became husband and wife in a traditional Hindu ceremony at his residence.
On July 23, 2019, Himesh Reshammiya had turned 46 and his doting wife, Sonia Kapur planned a beautiful surprise for the birthday boy. While it was a working birthday for Himesh, his better half, Sonia had surprised him on the sets with a homemade cake. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Sonia had also written him a poem. Touched by his wife’s gesture, Himesh had then decided to incorporate the verses in the lyrics of one of his upcoming songs.
Gushing about the same, Himesh Reshammiya said, “It’s so romantic and relatable that I had tears in my eyes when reading it. I’m so happy with my gift which makes this birthday unforgettable and timeless. I will surely use this poem in one of my compositions.” Revealing how much Himesh liked her poetry, Sonia Kapur remarked, “Music is Himesh’s life. Whatever I feel for him, I have written in the form of a poem. I didn’t know he would love it so much”
To mark Himesh Reshammiya’s 46th birthday, the lovebirds paid a visit to Siddhivinayak Temple for which they twinned in pink. While Sonia looked elegant in a pink salwar kameez, Himesh teamed up his pink blazer with a white shirt and pants. Himesh and Sonia went to Siddhivinayak Temple to seek blessings and were captured by the shutterbugs as they smiled for the cameras. Soon after his intimate wedding, Himesh Reshammiya had confirmed the same to the Mumbai Mirror and was quoted as saying, “I am really happy that Sonia and I have embarked on this new journey. She is a lovely girl. I have loved her unconditionally and the feeling is mutual.” Sonia Kapur had also remarked, “Himesh is a wonderful human being and my soulmate. He means the world to me and I am very happy to start this beautiful journey with him.” For the wedding, while Himesh had looked dapper in a light golden sherwani, his bride had looked ravishing in a pastel pink lehenga with minimal makeup.
In another interview with the Mid-Day, Himesh Reshammiya had stated, "We have been together for a long time, so marriage was a natural progression. It feels wonderful to formalise our relationship. We are both quite romantic. I'm with the woman I love, life can't get better."
For the uninitiated, Himesh Reshammiya was earlier married to Komal Reshammiya but they had ended their 22 years of marriage in 2017 and speculations were rife that Sonia Kapur was the reason behind their separation. Dismissing such reports, Komal had said in a statement, "Nobody else should be dragged into this matter and nobody else is responsible for this. The reason for our marriage not working is only and only compatibility. Sonia is not responsible for this at all and our son Swayam and our family loves Sonia just like a family member."
Himesh and Komal have a son together named Swayam, who was also present at his father’s second marriage with Sonia.
