Smriti Khanna and Gautam Gupta had embraced parenthood on April 15, 2020, and 20 days later, the doting mommy had announced the name of their baby girl. Posting their first family picture with the just-born daughter in the frame, Smriti had written, "Anayka, #family #FirstFamilyPic #DaddysGirl.” In an interview with the HT, Smriti had revealed that it took them 20 days to decide their daughter’s name. Anayka means powerful and given the current scenario, Smriti and Gautam had felt it would be an apt name for their baby girl and being blessed by a daughter was a dream come true moment for the doting mommy. It was a special Mother’s Day for Smriti as it was her first with her daughter.
Smriti Khanna has been treating her fans with adorable glimpses of her baby girl, Anayka and it was just a while back, she had posted a glimpse of her daughter’s first smile. The newbie mommy is making sure to capture every milestone of her princess and sharing a video of the same, Smriti posted an IG story with the background music, Justin Bieber – Baby. To mark one month of Anayka in this world, Smriti wrote, “WHEN I SAW YOUR SMILE FOR THE FIRST TIME 27-APR-2020” atop the video.
It was only two weeks after the birth of their baby girl, Smriti Khanna had delighted her fans with the first-ever picture of her baby girl and in the caption, she had promised to take care and protect her baby girl till her last breath. She had written, "There will never be a day, like the day you were born... Thank you for choosing me to be your mother. I promise to love you and protect you till my last breath. #TheDayWeMet." Later, Smriti had taken to her IG story and had posted a beautiful selfie with her newborn baby girl. As the little one had slept cuddled in her mommy’s arms, Smriti can be seen kissing her daughter on her forehead. Smriti had posted an ‘I Love You’ sticker on the picture. To announce the best news of her life, Smriti Khanna had posted a family picture with the newbie parents looking at each other with smiles on their faces as the 29-year-old star had held her baby girl in her arms. Smriti had captioned her post as "Our princess has arrived 15.04.2020." Later, the elated father, Gautam had taken to his IG handle to post a picture, adoring his baby girl as she slept in his arms. Gautam had written, “Daddy’s bundle of joy!” To which, Smriti had commented, “My lifelines” followed by a heart.
In an interview with Zoom Digital, Smriti Khanna had spoken about managing her baby without any help, due to the pandemic lockdown. Smriti had said, “It is a little tough and I am managing right now, given the COVID situation so I could not call anybody. I had booked a nurse but then she was supposed to come from Aurangabad and even locally, we are not able to find anyone because of the containment areas and some areas are sealed. So whoever we are trying to get from anywhere, are not allowed to leave their places. So I am managing without help. But, there is no feeling like being a mother.”
Revealing how they are managing the safety of their newborn daughter, Anayka and the precautions they are taking at home, Smriti Khanna had continued, “When I had to come back from the hospital, one day prior to that, everybody in the family did their COVID test. We got it in writing from our doctor because you don’t know how the immunity of a newborn child is going to be and what the situation is. So the doctor gave us in writing and that’s how we got everyone tested in our family and the cook or guard we have at home. So we got them also tested for COVID because they too are going to be around. I can’t lock myself in one room. I have to move out of the room or go to the kitchen, so there were safety measures we had to take care of. So, every member of the family and the help that we had, we got everyone tested. Other than that, everyone is doing the extra sanitising, sterilising everything and very limited people are allowed in my room.
