In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shilpa Shetty Kundra talked about how her mom had predicted she would become an actress someday. She said, "My mother is actually an astrologist and she's not learnt it. She is just gifted with it. I remember when I was 10 she had told me that I'm going to grow up and (become an actress). I had lost some lame competition in school. I felt I was really ugly when I was a child. I was very tall and lanky." Well, there's no denying in the popular old saying 'Maa sab janti hai'! And it was probably her mother's belief in her talents, that has brought Shilpa Shetty Kundra where she is.
She further talked about how her mother had instilled confidence in her about her looks and said, "My mother told me then, 'Don't worry darling, you're going to turn from an ugly duckling to a swan.' I don't know if it was reiterating that I was an ugly duckling or just that there's a future." followed by a peal of hearty laughter. She also stated that her mom is her biggest critic, and said, "There are times I'd experiment with my clothes and fashion. She would look at my pictures and tell me, "This is ghastly". She's very fashion-forward that way." Literally every mom ever! Not many people know this, but the ever fit, the poster girl of fitness in Bollywood, Shilpa Shetty Kundra was also body-shamed once. In an interview with Pinkvilla, she had reminisced her experience with the ordeal and had said, "I had put on 32 kilos during my pregnancy. Ideally, I thought I'd gain around 15 kilos but I had double that weight. And after delivering Viaan, I put on two more kilos which was ridiculous. I don't know how I did that. So I remember this one incident when I went out with Raj for dinner for the first time after having Viaan. We walked in and there was this group of women at a kitty sitting and smirking at me. I could hear them say, "Is that Shilpa Shetty? She still has weight!" It was absolutely heartless." Well, Shilpa had shut the mouth of her trollers by bouncing back into her fit self in no time!
