Shilpa Shetty Kundra Goes Farming With Son, Viaan, Shares Her Switch From Being A Non-Veg To Veg

There is no greater happiness than exploring nature with your little ones. Getting dirty in the mud, drenched in the rain and coming home with a big smile is the best lesson our environment can teach us, that no classrooms can ever make us learn. On top of it, the COVID-19 pandemic has made us value the power of nature even more. However, Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty Kundra is making sure to keep her eight-year-old son, Viaan Raj Kundra close to nature. (Recommend Read: Arti Singh Opens Up On Her Struggle With Depression, Admits Worrying That No One Will Marry Her)

When lockdown due to the coronavirus was announced, Shilpa made sure to keep her son, Viaan entertained by organising different activities with him. From baking cakes to making cards, the mother-son duo is inspiring millions out there on how to lessen the screen time and enjoy while staying indoors. Recently, the actress stepped out for picking out her fresh vegetables from the farm.

On July 6, 2020, Shilpa took to her Instagram handle and shared a video of the same. In the video, we can see Shilpa picking out vegetables straight from the farms and Viaan also enjoyed himself in the midst of nature. Alongside it, Shilpa wrote a long note, wherein she shared her decision of going green. Her caption can be read as "Ahh! My ultimate dream, to grow my own, but for now... I have something to share. Since I’ve shared many milestones here, this is something... that’s a very personal choice, a hard decision for me; seemed impossible at one time, but it felt like a ‘calling’ of sorts. The shift happened gradually and NOW, I have accepted vegetarianism completely. Primarily, because I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint in the environment. Over the years, I’ve realised that cultivating livestock for food, has not only destroyed forests but also been the largest sources of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions. These are majorly responsible for the climate change our planet is experiencing." Check it out below:

Shilpa further wrote, "Also, following a vegetarian diet is not only beneficial for animals, but also can actually protect us from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, can improve & also reverse cardiovascular health, and some major diseases. It’s the best change for OUR health and the health of the PLANET. So, to give back to nature as best as I can here’s a choice I’ve made for myself. Given my roots (Mangalorean), our diet always comprised of certain elements, meals would often feel incomplete without fish/ chicken as they become habits, then becoming an addiction. But ever since I adopted Yoga as a way of life, I always felt incomplete. I needed to step up... 45 years into this journey of life, and I’ve finally made the switch. In the past, being a hardcore non-vegetarian, even my YouTube channel has a lot of non-vegetarian recipes! I WON’T be deleting any of those, as they have been shot but going forward I WILL be focusing mainly on the vegetarian recipes. You all are and have been my extended family & my well-wishers for so many years, hence keeping you posted, about this important step. Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, make sure you make the right one." (Also Read: Shilpa Shetty's Husband, Raj Kundra Makes Memes Out Of Their Married Life And They Are Hilarious)

Alongside it, she had written, "Making the decision to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. Elizabeth Stone. To the two halves of my heart  Viaan & Samisha: You both complete me. I love you! Thank you for choosing me. Happy Mother’s Day... to me and to all those amazing mothers out there."

Earlier, Shilpa had shared her son, Viaan's baking journey over the years. She had posted a video and had written, "Spending time with Viaan usually entails a baking/cooking session once a week. He loves to experiment and whip up healthy, easy-to-make recipes in his free time. We use this heart-shaped mould to show it’s made with love... This time around, we baked the gluten-free “chocolate heart cake” with coconut sugar, celebrating this time together.  Bake the quarantine blues away. Every day well spent. Since I have more time on hand, I found these pics from the past to show how time flies, but something’s don’t change. Take time out to show gratitude for the time we ‘have’ on hand, and let’s spend it with our kids with happiness in our hearts... K sera sera... whatever will be... Will be." (Don't Miss: Sameera Reddy Shares A Glimpse Of Nyra Enjoying Her Brother, Hans' Online Classes, Looks Adorable)
