For every child, it is a bliss to have grandparents as it is the most special relationship that a person can ever have. Lucky are the ones, who get to spend time with their grandparents, receive their unconditional love and grasp every word of their wisdom. If our parents are the ones who discipline us, grandparents are the ones who pamper us and teach us the real meaning of ‘selfless’! Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu are the lucky grandchildren lot of B-town, who are the centre of their dadi/nani, Sharmila Tagore’s universe! The Pataudi clan is full of the internet sensations, be it the eldest Sharmila Tagore or the youngest ones, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu. Just like every grandparent, Sharmila ji too, loves her grandchildren and in her interviews, we have read/heard how she misses spending more time with them. Recently, Sharmila ji featured on her bahu-cum-beti, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show, What Women Want, where the veteran actor was quizzed about her favourites in the family and much more.
Asking a grandmother, who is her favourite grandchild is a question that will never yield an answer, no matter how hard you try. Kareena Kapoor Khan too, realised the same when she had asked her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore on her show, What Women Want, to choose between Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu. In a ‘fun questions’ segment, when Kareena had asked Sharmila ji to choose between her grandchildren, as expected she had refused to pick.
Sharmila Tagore answered, “I have to live. I can’t possibly commit myself to that. They are all very different from each other and it’s really wonderful that I have two grown-up grandchildren and two very little grandchildren. So, I am enjoying both. And I think Sara’s interviews, I just love and I am proud of her. And Ibrahim is the only one who looks like a Pataudi. He is kind of tall and he likes cricket.” For the uninitiated, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan are Saif Ali Khan and his first wife, Amrita Singh’s children, Taimur Ali Khan is Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son, and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu is Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu’s angel.
On December 8, 2019, the Bengali beauty of Hindi cinema, Sharmila Tagore had turned 75 and to mark the occasion, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu along with their little prince and princess, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, had headed off to Ranthambore, Rajasthan. Sharing a family picture from the cake-cutting moment, where baby Tim and Inni have their eyes only on the cake, Soha had written, “With so many people in one frame it’s impossible to get a shot where everyone’s eyes are open (sorry bhai) or where everyone is looking at the camera - Tim and Inni have eyes only for the cake! Happy Birthday Amman 08.12.19 #sherbagh.” (Also Read: Taimur Ali Khan Looks Adorably Cute As He Curls Up In His 'Abba', Saif Ali Khan's Arms)
On September 25, 2019, in association with Trends, the Vogue Beauty Awards 2019 had lit up Mumbai's JW Marriott hotel and it was one of the starriest nights of the year. Attending her first Vogue Beauty Awards, Sara Ali Khan had stunned her fans in a black Shriya Som gown featuring sequins and lots of ruffles. Sara had made her red-carpet debut at the awards with her badi amma, Sharmila Tagore, who was a sight to behold in a pristine white saree. While Sharmila ji was honoured with the Beauty Legend title, Sara had bagged the Fresh Face (Female) award. When Sara was asked about her experience of walking down the red carpet with her badi amma, she had said, “I think for me, badi amma has always kind of epitomised beauty and this is Vogue Beauty. So, I think attending with her is just very special for me.”
In an interview with the IANS, Sharmila Tagore had expressed her proudness for granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan. About her debut film and as a person that Sara has turned out to be, the proud granny had stated, “Yes, I am so excited about her debut (in the film Kedarnath). I am very impressed by her... though I don’t see why her self confidence should surprise me. But whether it was Koffee With Karan, Rajeev Masand, BBC - her confidence, humility and charm made me so happy. It’s so heartwarming to see her the way she has turned out. When asked what she’s doing in films after going to Columbia University she said the education was for her growth as a person and not for a career. She’s never tongue-tied. And how well she stood up for her father on Karan Johar’s show. I am really proud of her.”
When Sharmila Tagore was asked if she has more time for her grandchildren than her children, she had retorted, “Yes that's true. I do have lots more time for my grandchildren, the kind of pressures on time that I tackled earlier are no more there though I do keep myself busy with professional commitments like the random ad here and a cinema conference there. But definitely I now have more time for not just my grandchildren but also my children. I have more time for our ancestral home in Pataudi also.” (Also Read: Kareena Kapoor Khan Shares How She Convinced Her Hubby, Saif Ali Khan To Be A Guest On Her Chat Show)
