Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki actor, Sharad Malhotra got married to a Delhi-based costume designer, Ripci Bhatia (now Malhotra) on April 20, 2019, following two wedding ceremonies- first a Sikh wedding based on Anand Karaj rituals and then, a Hindu wedding. Sharad's wedding was a long-anticipated affair in the showbiz world as he had the image of being a 'runaway groom', and he was previously in a relationship with Divyanka Tripathi and then with Splitsvilla fame, Pooja Bisht. In both his previous relationships, everyone had speculated that marriage was evident but fate had other plans for Sharad. Sharad Malhotra finally took the nuptial plunge with Ripci Malhotra as per an arranged marriage setup. After getting married, everyone's life changes for the better. And such is also the case with Sharad and Ripci. From work timings to workout sessions, eating habits to outing sprees, everything changes blissfully.
Sharad Malhotra, in an interview with the Bombay Times, shared about his life post-marriage and his honeymoon plans. Commenting on how his schedule has changed now, the Banoo Main Teri Dulhann actor revealed, "I am really excited to step into this new phase of my life. I am trying to adjust both my personal and professional lives. The production house of Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki has been very adjusting during this time. Also, my gym timings have changed. Previously, I used to hit the gym after wrapping up my day’s shoot, now I am going early in the morning so that I can come home as soon as I am done with my work."
Sharad Malhotra had broken a million hearts when he had announced his wedding with Ripic Bhatia. Sharing with the media house as to how his female fans have reacted to his marriage, the ecstatic Sharad commented, "I am happy that the majority of my female fans have reacted very positively to this decision. Many were waiting for my marriage to happen and they are happy for me now. But as expected, a few of them are definitely upset."
Sharad also added how Ripci reacted to the responses from his female fans, "Initially, it was a bit difficult for her to understand the situation since she is not from the industry. But now she is really very happy with the idea that my fans are reacting so positively to my marriage and the way they have accepted her. Even I am very pleased with this. Ripci is ecstatic with the fan following and how everyone is welcoming her with open arms."
On being asked about his honeymoon plans, Sharad Malhotra shared that the plans are of Paris but it's difficult to adjust the time when one does a daily soap opera. He was quoted as saying, 'I plan to go to Paris as it’s been there on my wish list for a long time now. I need to figure out my work schedule and then plan my honeymoon, but tentatively I am planning to go around June or July. It’s difficult to take out time if you are part of a daily soap, but even if I get four or five days off, I will make the most of it. I have put a request to my producers, and they have been kind enough on agreeing to adjust my schedule." Sharad Malhotra and Ripci Malhotra had scheduled a wedding reception earlier in Kolkata but it was postponed due to the weather alerts because of the cyclone, Fani. Commenting if guests had arrived then and have they come down now for another reception, Sharad shared, "Yes most of them have come down. I am expecting around 350 people. Some cousins have flown in and many of them will attend the reception from all over the city since most of my relatives stay in Kolkata. A few friends from Mumbai too have come down. Even Ripci’s immediate family has flown down from Punjab. The Fani alert had spoiled all the preparations last time, but I hope this time round, everything turns out fine.'
Sharad Malhotra is in the most comfortable space in his life now. His shows are doing well on the television and now he has settled down in the marital domain. On being asked if he has plans for Bollywood, the Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki actor replied, "I have done two Bollywood films already. But at the moment, I am enjoying my television phase. I am getting a lot of adulation and appreciation for my work. But just like every actor wishes to be a part of the film industry, even I am open to doing more Bollywood films. I am also getting a lot of good offers in terms of short films and web series. I am sure films will happen eventually. But I will be choosy about projects now. I am also open to working in the Bengali film or television industry. It is flourishing a lot these days. I have been part of the Hindi television industry for 12 years now, so it is very difficult to take out time now if I want to work in the Bengali industry. I have got offers earlier and would love to do a Bengali film. I also know the Bengali language very well, so I am sure that will help me if I get any work opportunity here."
Sharad Malhotra had earlier shared his love story with Ripci Bhati and was quoted as saying to a media portal, "When I was introduced to Ripci, I had just come out of a relationship and was going through a difficult phase. Initially, we would just exchange occasional pleasantries on social media. It was only after Ganpati last year that we got talking on the phone, which was after my last relationship ended. What connected us probably was our fear of marriage. In fact, Ripci travelled the world for six years to avoid marriage, as the pressure on a girl at her age was mounting. I would have loved to do that, too, but I was constantly working. It’s only recently that our families got involved after we spoke over the phone for a few days.
