But this pregnancy didn’t come easy to Sara Arfeen Khan and her hubby, Arfeen Khan. Sara had suffered a miscarriage seven years ago and it took her a while to recover from it and become healthy again. In an interview with The Times of India, Sara has revealed, “I suffered a miscarriage around seven years ago. It took me a while to recover from it and be healthy again. I was working constantly and one day, I realised that it would be a never-ending cycle if I didn’t take a break to start a family. I knew that I could come back to acting anytime.”

Even after embracing motherhood and welcoming the two munchkins in her life, it hasn't been an easy journey for her. Speaking of the baby blues and taking therapy, Sara Arfeen Khan continued, “I suffered from baby blues and my hormones were all over the place. It wasn’t easy to breast-feed two babies and three months into it, I was hospitalised for dehydration. While motherhood is one of the happiest experiences in a woman’s life, I wondered why every little thing affected me. I was tired and lethargic, and was crying every day. Though my husband (Arfeen) is a life coach, one can never train a close family member. So, I started taking therapy.” (Also Read: Surveen Chawla Talks About Postpartum Depression, Reveals Her Phase Of Emotional Imbalance)

Revealing how seeking professional advice helped her and what was the most difficult part of the entire phase, Sara Arfeen Khan stated, “One day, I decided to take charge of my life and I realised that I needed to step out, to begin with. It seemed difficult in the beginning, as I couldn’t step out of the room, let alone the house. Even dressing up took a lot of effort. I had to coach my mind and make conscious efforts to get over that phase. The most difficult part was getting used to my bloated body. Once I returned to India, five months after my delivery, I rested for about 20 days and started working out slowly. It’s important to lose postpartum weight the right way. I am way happier now and can’t wait to get back to acting, but it will depend on the kind of offers I get and how my babies react to me leaving for work.”

Speaking about losing the postpartum weight and if she feels that the society puts pressure on a woman to look perfect post-pregnancy, Sara Arfeen Khan retorted, “I don’t let society put any pressure on me. After delivering twins, I am amazed by how God has made a woman’s body. How can I find faults in my body after I’ve given life? I will take my own time to let my body heal and get fit. I want to be fitter and healthier for myself and my babies, whose world revolves around me."

Expressing how she felt after delivering two little babies through C-section, her emotions when she first heard the babies cry and the excitement to be able to hold and hug them anytime she wants, Sara Arfeen Khan had explained in a post, which could be read as “This was the time when I was just discharged from the hospital and was taking my twinnies home for the first time. I had a planned C-section and was in a complete shock when I heard the first cry of my babies. It was D day!! I had waited so long for this day and with God’s grace had double the happiness. To be honest it just didn't settle in that I am a mother of these gorgeous tiny babies. Day & night in the hospital I would just stare at these incredible beings and think ‘Wow!!! Am I really a mother?! ‘I’m not one of those people who share my emotions very easily so I would hug & kiss my angels tight, talk to them and let my emotions pour out completely in the silence of the night. It’s been an incredible journey for me and the only thing I regret is not having my grandmother by my side and seeing what awesomeness Iv produced. However, every morning just before dawn when I hear my babies giggle, I know who’s looking out for them, loving them and blessing them. Here’s to motherhood, life here and beyond!” (Also Read: Sameera Reddy Reveals She Felt Disconnected From Her Firstborn, Hans Varde After Giving Birth To Him)
