This is what exactly happened when the Indian Tennis sensation, Sania Mirza had decided to tie the knot with Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik. Their fans across India and Pakistan were more than delighted with the news and since then, the lovebirds have been ruling the world with their bond. On April 12, 2010, Indian Tennis star, Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer and former captain, Shoaib Malik had said ‘Qubool Hai’ in a private wedding ceremony. And since then, they have stood with each other through thick and thin, despite being targeted for each other’s performances. Eight years after their wedding, the couple had embraced parenthood and had welcomed their baby boy, Izhaan Mirza Malik in 2018. Since Izhaan’s birth, the doting parents have been sharing glimpses of their parenthood journey with their little goofball.
On February 1, 2021, Shoaib Malik turned a year older and Sania posted an adorable wish for him. She took to her IG handle and shared a lovely picture with him and wrote, “Happy birthday to this guy who I can’t live with or without. May you have the best year, month and day with lots of love,laughter and success… ps- I will tell you all this when you are back from practice in person but as they say - is it really a birthday wish if it hasn’t been done on the gram ? Ok. Love you. Bye @realshoaibmalik.”
In an interview with India Today, recalling the moment when she had met Shoaib for the first time, Sania had stated, “We knew each other socially and then we bumped into each other at a restaurant in Hobart where you don’t even see animals/birds after 6 pm, forget people. Must’ve been destiny that we met over there to be very honest. Only later I realized that he had actually planned to come to the restaurant because I was there. Sania and Shoaib had completed 10 years of marital bliss on April 12, 2020 and the lovely couple had posted hearlfelt wishes for each other on their respective social media handles. While Shoaib had captioned their couple picture as "Happy 10th anniversary @mirzasaniar #alhumdullilah", Sania had posted expectation v/s reality pictures and had captioned them as "Happy Anniversary @realshoaibmalik A decade of being married looks like this!! Expectation vs reality."
In an interview with Editor-in-Chief of ThePrint, Shekhar Gupta for his show, Walk the Talk, Sania Mirza had talked about the fact that she didn’t want a long courtship with her beau, Shoaib Malik. She had stated, “Yes. A lot of other factors would have made it difficult for us to have a long courtship. We are well known in our countries so it would have been very difficult to keep it under wraps. All kinds of stories start from baseless rumours. Relationships are personal. I didn’t want to read my personal stories in the newspapers, every morning. I mean it’s just not nice when we are all from respectable families. We just started talking about it. I think that’s the most important thing about our relationship. We both were very honest and our thoughts about marriage and companionship matched.
