Indian tennis sensation, Sania Mirza won the semi-finals and qualified for the Australian Open mixed doubles final, which will take place on January 28, 2023, at the Rod Laver Arena. However, it was her son, Izhaan, who was overjoyed by her win and his happiness knew no bounds. A video from the ground has been doing rounds on the internet, and it's winning everyone's hearts.
After Sania Mirza won the match, her son, Izhaan was beaming with happiness as he witnessed the moment from the bleachers. He immediately ran to his mommy in celebration, and Sania fondly picked him up in her arms. The doting mommy smothered his little one with kisses, while the crowd cheered for them. Sania packed her belongings and bid goodbye to the crowd as she left the ground holding Izhaan's hand. The video was too cute to be missed, and it reflected the endless love between the mother-son duo.

After the game, Sania Mirza in an interaction talked about her commitment towards tennis and said that this was her final outing in a major before the first Grand Slam of the year at Melbourne Park. Sania also stated that competitiveness is in her blood, and hence she prefers to give her best. Talking about the same, she revealed:
"I play every match trying to win, whether it's my last tournament or my last Slam or my first Slam. For me, competitiveness is in my blood. Every time I step on the court, I want to win regardless of whether it's going to be my last Slam, whether it's my last season.”
On January 13, 2022, Sania Mirza shared a series of picture notes and announced her retirement. In her note, Sania recalled how she asked her school coach to teach her tennis when she was six-year-old and reflected on her fortunate blessing of being able to play for her country and win medals. She also expressed her gratitude to her loved ones for their support and reflected on her professional career of twenty years. Revealing the reason behind her retirement, the tennis star shared that her son, Izhaan, needs her the most at this point in his life.
