For a few months, there were reports that Samantha Akkineni and her husband, Naga Chaitanya were on the verge to end their almost four years long wedding. After all the speculations and their cryptic gestures, Samantha and Naga officially announced their separations a few days before their fourth wedding anniversary.
The reports of Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya heading for a divorce had begun when the actress had dropped ‘Akkineni’ from her name on her social media handles. She has changed her name to simply ‘S’, making people believe that all is not well between her and her husband, Naga.

A few minutes back, Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya issued a joint statement on their respective IG handles, announcing their separation officially. Their statement can be read as “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.”
Samantha and Naga also requested everyone to give them privacy during these times. The statement added, “We request our fans, well wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”

According to a report in ETimes, the possible reason behind Samantha Ruth Prabhu and her husband, Naga Chaitanya's separation and the emergence of divorce is the fact that The Family Man 2 actress is still working in the world of glitz and glam. The report suggests that Samantha's glamourous photoshoots and portraying bold roles in her movies are some of the prime reasons behind a rift between Samantha and Naga's family. Also, it seemed like Naga's father and iconic actor, Nagarjuna, reportedly wanted his daughter-in-law, Samantha, to quit acting after marriage.
The report had further stated that after numerous discussions between Samantha and the members of the Akkineni family over her firm decision to work in films and not leaving her acting career at any cost, the prospect of divorce between the couple had emerged in the frame. As per the report, some unnamed sources had clearly stated that sooner or later, the divorce between Samantha and Naga is bound to happen, no matter what. Also, it was revealed that alimony of Rs. 50 crores will reportedly be granted to Samantha if the divorce happens.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, the South industry is baffled by Samantha and Chaitanya’s divorce as the actress wanted to start a family. The portal had quoted its source as “We as an industry are currently baffled with the speculations going around about Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya. As an actress, everyone knows she is very family-oriented. She actually wanted to start a family with Chaitanya and she didn't sign any project or read scripts for the same reason. Family has always been her priority and she wanted to balance it to start a family. Her friends, producers, actors, everyone who knows Samantha know how important her family is to her."
Samantha and Naga had tied the knot on October 07, 2017.
