Saifeena i.e. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan is one ideal couple from the Indian film fraternity. Saif and Kareena walked down the aisle on October 16, 2012, and yesterday, these two lovebirds completed six years of marital bliss. The couple is adored by one and all as they have been giving some serious relationship goals. Together the two have a little munchkin who is country’s sensation already, their 1 year 10 months old son, Taimur Ali Khan. In a candid chat with famous online portal Pinkvilla, Saif Ali Khan got candid and spoke at length about his marriage with Kareena, what all qualities he adores about his wife and much more. Revealing the qualities, he admires about Kareena, Saif quipped, “There are obvious things like loyalty...giving importance to family, being grounded and not being too carried away with all the work that we can get carried away by. Having your priorities straight - time for family, time for friends, that is the most important.”
He further added, “Along with work being important as well but not obsessing to the point of cut-throat decisions and doing everything for that and then ending up only having that (laughs). As a wife, not being very pushy and demanding. Being very easy going about a lot of things. You've got to be easy to live with if you want someone to live with you happily. She's very easy to live with”.
And when Saif was probed to tell what the secret behind his successful marriage with Kareena is, he gushed, “Please don't put nazar on it!"(laughs)”. And went on to add, "We are not the love gurus and relationship experts. One of the reasons is, we actually have quite a healthy life, in the sense that we have time together and we have time apart. We have lives and careers that actually don't concern each other. There's enough happening without getting on each other's nerves as it were, at least for the kind of people we are”. On the same note, Saif further remarked, “There is a little bit of individuality and there's enough togetherness. You don't get the feeling that you have to be stifled or that you need to make a change because everything seems well balanced. If we have been lucky enough, it's because there is a balance that suits our personalities. I think that is the key to it. There is no secret mantra. We're just bumbling along like everybody else. Also, the actual bottom line is you have to be a bit unconditional in your loving like you are with children. You can't really expect or get too worked up about things. You have to be unconditional and not sweat the small stuff. If your partner has the right intention, then you shouldn't bother about little things.”
Not just this, Saif was also asked about Taimur and how life has changed post him. On this note, he remarked, "Life is finite, right? You don't know how long you have but it's good to move on from things. We've had a lot of fun as a couple alone. Now, with Taimur in our lives, it's a little different but more special and we're certainly ready for it. If you're not ready for it, it can imbalance you. So much changes, in a nice way. Priority wise, very little comes, as I'd rather spend time with Taimur and my family than do almost anything now. That's a change. Just watching him run around gives us a lot of joy. It's nice to see both of us in him."
Adding further, Saif remarked, "Our timings have changed. We've become more responsible. We sleep earlier. We wake up earlier because he is up at the crack of dawn. Your mental timetable is more based around him than around yourself. And that's a welcome change. I like a bit more stable routine and he is helping me do that. I'm very happy about it!"
Further, on being asked when will Saif and Kareena be seen on the silver screen together, he shared, "I'm enjoying acting in a different way and I'm learning so much about it and growing. Earlier, I used to say no but now, I feel maybe. If someone offers us something and it has to be special." And added, "We've got 1-2 dodgy offers. (laughs) One person said, 'I've got a great idea for a film. You and Kareena ma'am.' He said it will be a "lovely, fresh story" just for us. I didn't reply to him. If something great comes along with someone great; it has to be a different take. When you're comfortable with each other...comfort is the enemy of cinema. Discomfort and tension are what you want in scripts and everything. Working with strangers is more interesting for the audience, and it's more interesting for us. It's a selfish profession. When guys shoot with girls, sometimes they are more worried about their triceps and how their hair is looking. They are not bothered about the girl. That is why real couples are sometimes less interesting."
