Born in West Pakistan, Amrita Singh had made her acting debut with Betaab in 1983 and with her first film only, she had garnered fame and love from the audience. As per a Daily Bhaskar report, Amrita was a belly dancer before she had made her debut in Bollywood. February 9 marks the birthday of Amrita Singh and last year, in 2020, as a sweet gesture, Saif Ali Khan’s sister, Saba Ali Khan had posted a wish for her ex-sister-in-law. Saba is an avid social media user and she leaves no stone unturned to make her loved ones’ special days even more memorable. On February 9, 2020, Saba had posted a throwback picture of Amrita with her children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan from their Diwali 2019 photoshoot. Saba had captioned it as “HAaPpY Birthday!! to a soul that’s forever BEAUTIFUL... wish u A fab day n year!! Love ALWAYS.” To wish her in 2021, Saba posted a collage of Amrita’s pictures on her IG story and added a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker on it.
A few weeks ago, Saba Ali Khan had posted a collage of her brother, Saif Ali Khan’s ex-wife and her ex-sister-in-law, Amrita Singh and her niece, Sara Ali Khan, and we could not get over the striking resemblance between the mother-daughter duo. The right side had a throwback picture of Amrita from her younger days in the industry, posing in a beige outfit. The left side had Sara, posing in a white and black polka-dotted outfit. Soha Ali Khan had released her first book as an author, The Perils of Being Moderately Famous in 2017 and while her entire family including her amma, Sharmila Tagore, bhai, Saif Ali Khan, sister, Saba Ali Khan, hubby, Kunal Kemmu and sister-in-law, Kareena Kapoor Khan were present to cheer for her at her book launch, her ex-sister-in-law, Amrita Singh wasn’t there. In an interaction with T2 Online, when Soha was asked about Amrita’s absence, she had retorted, "My relationship with my ex-sister-in-law, Amrita Singh, is not as close as it used to be then. And that is not to say that it is a huge controversy or anything. It is just how it is. And it is how it would be with any other family. Which is why she wasn't there at my book launch." Soha had added there’s no bad blood between them but she did agree that sometimes we don’t have control over the circumstances in our life.
Speaking about her relationship with niece and nephew, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan had continued, "I would like to believe that Sara and I are very close. I think she likes me and my perspective on things and we get along very well. Well, as much as it is possible to connect with your 20-something niece, who is embarking on her film career. Ibrahim, to be honest, is a rockstar in his own right." Revealing why Sara and Ibrahim weren’t there at her book launch, Soha had said, "Well, I would have loved to have Sara and Ibrahim at the launch. But unfortunately, neither of them were available at the time. Sara was shooting for Kedarnath, and Ibrahim was in England."
