Born in Bhopal to a renowned cricketer, Iftikhar Ali Khan and the Begum of Bhopal, Sajida Sultan, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a pioneering figure in India's rich cricketing heritage. In August 2011, he was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, with an acute lung infection caused by chronic interstitial lung disease, and on September 22, 2011, he had taken his last breath due to respiratory failure. His daughters, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan, and daughter-in-law, Kareena Kapoor Khan leave no chance to express how much they miss his presence in their lives.
To mark the 80th birth anniversary of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, his eldest daughter, Saba Ali Khan posted a throwback black-and-white picture from the field and captioned it as “We miss u....in my heart today and ALWAYS #tribute#dad#abba#mansuralikhan #pataudi #legend #testcricket #captain#late#nawab#pataudi #love#respect#gentleman #kindsoul#thebest.” She also posted a picture in which she had lit two candles in front of his photo frame at her home. Saba captioned the picture as “Miss u A LOT. 80th birthday today.” Kareena Kapoor Khan posted a lovely picture of the father-son duo, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Saif Ali Khan from latter's childhood. In the picture, we get a glimpse of Ibrahim Ali Khan in his abba, Saif.
September 22, 2020, had marked to be the ninth death anniversary of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and, Soha Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan had posted solo black-and-white pictures of the late cricketer. While Soha had captioned her post as “1941-2011 To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die”, Kareena had put a heart emoticon on her IG story. When Soha had visited her ancestral home, Pataudi palace in November 2019 with hubby, Kunal Kemmu and their daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, the actress had paid a visit to her abba, MAK’s grave. International Tiger Day or Global Tiger Day is celebrated annually on July 29, 2020, to raise awareness for tiger conservation and the aim is to promote a system to protect natural tiger habitats and gain support in conservation issues. To mark International Tiger Day in her own special way, Soha Ali Khan had posted a black-and-white picture of her abba, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who was also known as 'Tiger' and had captioned it as "After all it is International Tiger Day!"
In 2018, Soha Ali Khan during the launch of her book, The Perils of Being Moderately Famous, had revealed how her abba, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi liked to speak in codes and why she wanted his story to be told. Soha had said, "I've always thought Abba's story should be told. Even when he was alive I would often ask him if he was going to write an autobiography. 'The truth can never be told,' he liked to say mysteriously, 'and I will not lie.' I soon gave up trying to figure out what he meant - he liked to speak in code - I suspect in order to deter conversation as much as possible, except for the very persistent. I did not persist then but after he passed away I have learnt so much more about him-from obituaries, personal stories, letters written to my mother from friends, colleagues and admirers. I have wallowed in those words of tribute and praise and felt privileged to be loved so dearly by one loved dearly by so many."
