Renowned film stars including Mohanlal and Mammootty graced the event and added more charm to it. Famous CEOs of Samsung and the Japan Gas Corporation also marked their presence.
Another highlight of the grand wedding was the unique lotus-themed mandap. The interesting part was that the wedding pandal was planned by the production designer, Sabu Cyril, who had worked with SS Rajamouli for his film, Magnum Opus. In a media interaction, Sabu Cyril revealed that the wedding set was larger than the set of the film, Bahubali.
Another highlight of the pandal was the huge floral elephant statues and floral chandeliers. A team of 200 professionals had created the unique 350,000 sq ft pandal, spread over 20 acres, with an investment of Rs 20 crore. However, creating the wedding pandal wasn't easy. It took the designer almost 75 days to create the Rajasthani ambience in Kollam. Oh Em Gee!
The bride, Dr Aarthi Pillai was decked up in a gorgeous silk saree designed by ace designer, Manish Malhotra. She radiated the South Indian bridal glow in the red saree, with the traditional drape. However, the interesting part about her look was that she ditched the gold jewellery and opted for diamonds for her big day.
Yes, the bride was decked up in diamond jewellery. She donned a diamond choker neckpiece with a statement layered haar, a kamarbandh, bajubandh, a mathapatti and diamond bangles. She accentued her look with on-point makeup with well-defied brows and dark red lips.
On the other hand, the groom was dressed in a traditional veshti, and a silk kurta for the wedding. The highlight of the wedding was bride's entry on a huge rath.
For guests' entertainment, Mr. Pillai organised a breathtaking Bharatanatyam performance by renowned actresses Manju Warrier and Shobhana, and a musical show conducted by Stephen Devassy. 'Rhythm of the Forest' performance, choreographed by Soorya had 400 dancers on stage. A traditional Kerala sadya was served for the guests in dining halls, which could accommodate 7,000 guests at a time.
We are still in awe of the grand wedding of Ravi Pillai's daughter. The famous businessman had revealed that he wanted to bring tourism to Kerala, and that is why he hosted such a lavish ceremony for his daughter.
