Even after all these days and months, it still feels unreal to accept that everyone's favourite and the legendary actor, Irrfan Khan, is no longer with us. The actor had taken his last breath on April 29, 2020. Irrfan was seen on the big screen for the last time in his critically-acclaimed film, Angrezi Medium and had proved the mettle of his acting chops once again. The actor would have turned 55 today, but fate had other plans for him, as we all know.
On his birthday, while on one side, the whole social media is buzzing in his praise, on the other side, his doting wife, Sutapa Sikdar, remembered her late husband, Irrfan Khan, in her heart-to-heart interview. The popular dialogue writer talked about her late husband's views on celebrating birthdays, and it will leave you surprised.
In an interview with the Bombay Times, Sutapa Sikdar remembered her late husband, Irrfan Khan, on his 55th birth anniversary and revealed the thing that she misses the most about him since his demise. The doting wife revealed that out of all the things, it was her soul-to-soul conversation with her hubby, Irrfan, that she misses every single day. She explained:
"In April this year, it will be two years since his passing, and not a single day goes by without us remembering him. What he truly cherished were soul-to-soul conversations, and I miss having those with him the most. Everything else can be compensated for. I have friends who are there for me, but with whom do I have those great conversations? My life is devoid of good conversations now. It's unbelievable for me to fathom a world without Irrfan."
Going further in the interview, Sutapa Sikdar opened up about her late husband, Irrfan Khan and revealed that he had 5-6 big movies in his kitty along with some massive international projects. The doting wife also added that her late husband was enjoying one of the best years of his acting career. However, she understood that fate had other plans for him. In her heartbreaking statement, Sutapa also revealed the hard-hitting truth that it is impossible to get over the loss of a loved one. She said:
"He (Irrfan Khan) left when he was beginning to enjoy the best phase of his career. He had six massive films in his kitty, including huge international projects, but fate had other plans. You never get over the loss of a loved one. You just learn to deal with the pain."
In her interview, Sutapa Sikdar revealed her late husband, Irrfan Khan's perspective about birthdays and revealed that he used to call them marketing strategies set up by the gifting companies. She also added that Irrfan was terrible in remembering birthdays, including his own. Also, there were moments when he used to tease Sutapa for falling in love with another man, who would remember her birthday. Revealing his justification behind his disliking towards celebrating birthdays, she said:
"He didn't remember birthdays, including his own. When we were courting in the early years, it took me a while to accept that. I, on the contrary, loved big celebrations. Irrfan would say, 'I have no idea how many new days they invent every year. Puray planet par toh hum insaan bojh hain aur mai kya celebrate karu? Main ek aur saal jee liya isliye?’ Valentine's Day was out of the question, and he believed birthday celebrations were marketing strategies for gifting companies. Tumhara kya hai, you will fall for a man who will remember your birthday."
