Though she made her debut in 1995 with the thriller/horror television show, Aahat, it was more than a decade later with Rajshri Production's Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki that she shot to fame with. Known as Rani/Pari, actress Reena Kapoor is the first cousin of television and theatre actors, Shalini Kapoor and Malini Kapoor. Apart from Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Reena was a part of several hit TV shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Badii Devrani, RadhaKrishn and Ranju Ki Betiyaan.
While that was about Reena Kapoor's professional front, speaking of her personal life, she is married to Karan Nijher, who is a pilot. After Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Reena had taken a sabbatical as she moved to Sweden, where her husband was. When she came back to India after a year-and-a-half, it was two years of struggle after which she found work again. Initially, Reena was apprehensive of marriage when her parents were looking for a match for her because of the bad marriages and hollow relationships she had seen in the industry, but after being married to Karan, she feels life has been beautiful.
Due to their professional commitments, Reena Kapoor used to often shuttle between Delhi and Mumbai as her husband, Karan Nijher works for a helicopter charter company in the Capital. But because of the pandemic, the flying industry was affected a great deal and Karan moved to Mumbai to be with his wife. Luckily, the pandemic proved to be a blessing in disguise for Karan and Reena as they get time to spend with each other. Reena, along with the cast of Ranju Ki Betiyaan, is shooting in Silvasa and her husband has accompanied her there.
Revealing why her husband, Karan Nijher started accompanying her to the sets of her show amidst the pandemic, Reena Kapoor, in an interview with The Times Of India, said, "We were quite skeptical about shooting in the present scenario but the role was too good to let go and COVID restrictions had begun to ease up. Karan started accompanying me on set when COVID struck and he continues to do so even today. I am quite absent minded and Karan feared that I wouldn't take all the necessary COVID-related precautions, so he started to accompany me." Sharing that Karan is loved more than her on the sets, Reena added, "Everybody loves him and his sense of humour. The bond he shares with them is more a like family. My husband is more like on the sets than me."
Expressing that she feels blessed to have a life partner like Karan, Reena Kapoor remarked, "Thanks to my husband, I don't have to worry about being social. That is one thing that does not come to me naturally. I stay connected with all my friends and colleagues because of him." Throwing light on how different their personalities are, Reena continued, "He is witty and his sense of humour is amazing, which draws people to him instantly, be it the staff, colleagues or bosses. He can talk on any subject. He has great knowledge about world history, politics, science, Hollywood movies, Western music and the list goes on."
In a 2018 interview with SpotboyE, when Reena Kapoor was asked about embracing motherhood, she said that they are not in a hurry and had given a perfect reason behind the thought. Reena had retorted, "No, not really. Karan and I don’t think that our life is incomplete without children. We are not in a hurry. It will happen when it has to."
We wish Reena and Karan, a lifetime of happiness and love!
