This Video Of A Pandit Singing Bollywood Songs On Pheras Instead Mantras At A Wedding Is Going Viral

Mangalam Bhagwan Vishnu, Mangalam Garunadhwajah, Mangalam Pundari Kakshah, Mangalaya Tano Hari… With the pandit ji chanting this in the background as you take the sacred saat pheras, followed by the reciting of your seven wedding vows. But these days while a bride and groom prefer taking a unique road and decide some ‘realistic’ vows for each other, looks like the pandits too, are taking the creative path. Before giving you a glimpse of how pandits are also improvising with the wedding mantras, let us give you a back story of the bride and the groom. (Also Read: This Bride Wore A Rani Pink Lehenga With The Longest Dupatta For Her Wedding)

The bride, Savnit Arora is a Fashion Stylist and Creative Consultant had met her groom, Rahul Gurnani a year before their wedding and it is a sheer example of chatt mangni, pat vyaah. Bachpan Se Hi Na Mujhe Shaadi Karna Ka Bohot Craze Hai By God… this dialogue from the film, Jab We Met holds absolutely true for Savnit as being a wedding enthusiast, she has been dreaming about her wedding since the age of 10. Savnit had said to Wedding Sutra, “Rahul and I are from Lucknow. I’ve been working as a stylist in Delhi and Mumbai and I met Rahul last year. Things progressed really fast and we decided to get married. I think I’ve been a wedding enthusiast from the day I was born and have been dreaming about my own wedding since I was 10.”

For Rahul and Savnit’s wedding, from the colour scheme of her décor to the outfits of the bride and groom, everything was well-coordinated in red and white with a touch of gold. Savnit had left no stone unturned to make her wedding her ‘dream wedding’ and in a fiery belted bridal lehenga from Sulakshana Monga, she had left us speechless. And not to miss her minimal chooda, which is hardly preferred by any bride. Rahul had opted for a very unique Soltee sherwani, with subtle handwork highlight and a lot of style with the lattice weave. Before the saat pheras, the pandit had taken a creative way and recited the vows in Bollywood songs. In a video shared by Savnit, the pandit could be heard singing Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam as a vow and she had captioned it as “Since a lot of you wanted to know more about the Pandit at our wedding, here’s a glimpse of the magic and madness spread by him!”

Speaking about their wedding ensembles, Savnit had stated, “As for our wedding outfits, I was almost struck with a Deja Vu when I saw my wedding lehenga for the first time at Sulakshana Monga’s showroom. It was legit, love at first sight. I never wanted anything too loud yet make a statement with a pinch of classic elements (is that an oxymoron?) Rahul and I both wore Soltee by Sulakshana for the wedding. And jewellery, Araceli jewels are one of those hidden gems for excellent jewellery as I found out about during my wedding preps.” Savnit had Pinterest wedding ideas saved since she in school and as a stylist, her wedding was her ultimate styling project.

Reminiscing the moment when she felt that Rahul is the ‘one’ for her, Savnit had remarked, “Rahul and I both belong to Lucknow and have a lot of common friends, but destiny made us meet just about 4 months before our wedding. I was in Delhi when Rahul decided to fly down to meet me on my birthday. I don't know If it was magic in his dimples or destiny, but I knew it at the end of our 5-hour long lunch date (it was our first date!) that I am ready to spend my life with Rahul!” (Also Read: This Groom Broke His Leg At Bachelor Party, Bride's Lovely Gesture On Wedding Stole Our Heart)

Revealing how much time it took to plan her dream wedding without a planner, Savnit was quoted as saying, “My wedding was planned in about 50 days. What worked in our favour was that Rahul and I both were very passionate about different aspects of the wedding so we divided our work. Location, Food and Entertainment belonged to Rahul and Clothes, Accessories and Decor was my department. My wedding was a close-knit affair of 300 people in Agra where all the functions and our stay was at the Courtyard by Marriott. We skipped hiring a wedding planner as when you do hire one, you miss attending to each detail yourself. Being a wedding enthusiast and a fashion stylist I wanted to plan every detail myself.”

Rahul and Savnit’s wedding ceremonies had begun on a spiritual note with Mata Ki Chowki and for the same, the then soon-to-be bride and groom had kept it simple and elegant in colour-coordinated outfits. Savnit had opted for a lime-green sharara with magenta and pearl highlights from the label, Monika Nidhii. She had accentuated her look with a neat bun with some ferns and had highlighted it with green kohl under her eyes. Rahul, on the other hand, had looked dapper in a red-green kurta set from Kora, Mumbai.

Mata Ki Chowki was followed by a sangeet ceremony, and for the same, Savnit was a sight to behold in a heavily embellished Monika Nidhii lehenga and had smartly elevated her look with statement diamond and emerald jewellery. Rahul had worn an asymmetrical bandhgala with some cool button detailing, designed by Kora in Mumbai.

For the mehendi ceremony, Savnit had broken the norms and instead of a bright outfit for the rituals, she had personified elegance in a statement grey and gold saree by Kiran Uttam Ghosh. Rahul had complemented his ladylove in a sharp drape kurta and Sadri from Kora. Savnit had stated, “Our mehendi was a very simple lunch affair for which I wore a Kiran Uttam Ghosh saree and kept the makeup minimal. I discovered a really unique designer in Shahpur Jat who’s label runs by the name of, ‘Rangeelo Juno Des’ for the pool party - that was something. I picked a colour blocked lehenga for myself and a draped kurta for Rahul.”

In a super dreamy gardenia setup, consisting of bamboo sticks, suspended bulbs and spell-binding cascading décor, Rahul and Savnit had exchanged rings. Revealing the details about this ceremony, Savnit said, "This one is out of my scrapbook! I chose a golden Shantanu and Nikhil gown and a classic black tux for Rahul. The flares and fit of a Shantanu Nikhil gown are incomparable. We entered the function backstage on 'A thousand Years' by Christina Perri and Rahul down on his knees to propose to me at the end of it. That's how we got engaged." Highlight of the engagement ceremony was Savnit getting down on her knees and slipping the ring onto her beau, Rahul’s finger.

For the pool party, Savnit had chosen an offbeat yellow and light blue lehenga (in sync with the decor) from Rangeelo Juno Des in Shahpur Jat, which she had paired with quirky pearl and floral neckpiece. Rahul, on the other hand, had donned a bright yellow kurta in accordance with the vibrant decor. And for the haldi ceremony, Savnit sunshined in a simple yellow kurta designed by her mom's friend and had accentuated her look with green kohl and eccentric floral earrings. (Also Read: This Bride's Killer Dance Moves On 'Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal' With Her Bridesmaids Goes Viral)
