On August 12, 2020, Kareena and Saif had confirmed the news of expecting a baby and had released an official statement regarding the same, which could be read as "We are very pleased to announce that we are expecting an addition to our family!! Thank you to all our well-wishers for all their love and support. Saif and Kareena." The news had not only excited the nation, but has made them curious to know everything about Kareena’s second pregnancy.
In a conversation with The Times of India, Randhir Kapoor shared if the family wants a baby boy or a baby girl as Kareena’s second child and expressed their happiness about the same. He said, “No preferences, daughter or son. We just want a healthy, happy child. And, let me tell you that the entire khandaan is looking forward to this."
Randhir ji has recently joined social media, when asked what made him take this decision, he shared the role of his daughters, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the same. He said, “It just happened and it was entirely Lolo and Bebo's decision (Karisma and Kareena). There were some pictures in the stock, they uploaded them after making the account." He added, "Now, Lolo and Bebo are saying that I ought to learn how to handle my account by ownself. But I am not tech-savvy at all. I don't know anything. Whenever I want to post, I think I shall ask Lolo and Bebo to shortlist some pictures and send it to me. I shall choose from them and ask them only to upload. I am not here on Instagram to make statements. I like my peace. I am happy in my space. My Insta will be just fun." When the rumours of Kareena and Saif expecting their second child had surfaced the internet, Kareena's father, Randhir Kapoor had reacted on the conjectures in an interview with The Times of India, and had said, "I hope it's true and if so, I would be very happy. Do bachche toh hone chahiye to give each other company." Later, when the couple had released an official statement about their pregnancy, in a conversation with the Mumbai Mirror, the elated grandfather had expressed his happiness and had said, "I am absolutely delighted, I have been telling Kareena for so long that Taimur needs a brother or sister to play with. We are all very happy and we pray, it's a healthy, happy child."
