Shahid Kapoor is the son of Bollywood actor, Pankaj Kapur and his ex-wife, Neelima Azeem. For the unversed, Neelima and Pankaj got married in 1979. However, they parted their ways after a few years of their wedding in 1984. Later, in 1990, Neelima tied the knot with another Bollywood actor, Rajesh Khattar and was blessed with a son, Ishaan Khatter. But their marriage was also short-lived, and the couple divorced in 2001. And in the meantime, Shahid developed a beautiful bond with his stepdad, Rajesh. Now, in a candid conversation, Rajesh opened up about the same and shared a few more unknown anecdotes about Shahid's childhood.
In a recent conversation with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Rajesh Khattar opened up about his bonding with his stepson, Shahid Kapoor. Rajesh shared how he had become a 'father fugure' in the then 9-year-old boy, Shahid's life. Afterwards, Rajesh spent nearly eleven years with Shahid, which helped them form a beautiful bond. Rajesh also recalled a few anecdotes from Shahid's teenage years. He mentioned how he, his ex-wife, Neelima, their biological son, Ishaan and his stepson, Shahid used to live a life absolutely like a normal family.

In the same conversation, Rajesh recalled an incident from Shahid’s childhood when the latter fell in serious love with a girl in his school. Rajesh mentioned how Shahid had then got a photo of hers and placed it in his house. Recalling the same, the stepdad mentioned that he was boiling on the issue as he was so scared of Shahid's activities. Then, it was Neelima, who calmed Rajesh and asked him to take things easily. Rajesh revealed:
“There was a girl in his school that he(Shahid Kapoor) liked. He got her photo and placed it at home. I was boiling after that, I was so scared. I did not know how to deal with it. I thought he was going to marry her or something. His mother calmed me down and said no, it doesn’t work like that. If there’s a photo, let it be, it won’t matter later. I had a different thought altogether. I used to think he’s such a handsome boy, who is she?”
Further, Rajesh shared another incident from Shahid's childhood. The doting stepdad hinted at the fact that Shahid wasn’t a brilliant student. He mentioned that the Haider actor's marks were average, so Shahid himself was frazzled as good marks were needed for his college admission. So talking about the same, Rajesh revealed the pact he made with his stepson, so the latter scores well in his exams. Elaborating more on it, Rajesh shared:
“We made one pact. He wanted to join Shiamak. So, I said, ‘Listen, if you get the percentage, 80 or so, then you do whatever you want. If not, then you have to listen to us and do what we say.’ This was our pact. That was the first time he scored more than 80.”

Thus, despite being stepdad and stepson, Rajesh and Shahid are indeed family goals. They shared the purest bond that a father and a son have. Talking about the same, Rajesh shared how the duo spent so many years together and still now, has a beautiful connection between them. He mentioned that the duo often catch up, and whenever they meet, they talk about the times they spent together. In Rajesh's words:
“He’s always respectful, he’s always been loving. He’s done brilliantly well. Whatever he has achieved in life, it’s all due to his hard work.”
