It was on July 18, 2012, when the nation had received the shocking news of Rajesh Khanna ji's demise. While the whole nation was in tears, for Twinkle, it was one of the darkest phases of her life. But over the years, she had ensured to keep him alive in the hearts and memories of everyone by sharing pictures and videos of him on her social media handles. However, there's one famous interview of the doting daughter in which she had revealed how her daddy dearest had predicted her destiny of being a writer a long time ago when she was just a teenager. In an article for Tweak India on Father's Day, 2020, actress-turned-author, Twinkle Khanna had talked about her father's vision and how he had known right from the start that she is going to be a writer. The actress had stated, "It was only after he was gone that I heard from all his friends how he would show them my poetry. He would tell them that I would be a writer someday. He said I was his favourite, his son." Twinkle had also appreciated the way his father had brought her up despite all the gender inequality prevailing in the society. She had added, "For a man of that generation, where gender was not a social construct but an entire identity, a son more than anything else, meant someone capable, someone worthy of being relied upon, perhaps in his mind, there could not have been a finer compliment."
Going further in her interview, Twinkle Khanna had also stated that her father, Rajesh Khanna had always called her by the name, 'Tina Baba' instead of a baby or by her name. She had said, "If my father hoped for a boy as his firstborn, I was never told. All I know is what he said to my mother: That I was the best present she could have ever given him as I entered the world, feet first, on his 31st birthday. He always called me Tina baba, never baby, and though I didn't realise it at that point, my upbringing was different from all the other young girls around me. Concluding her article, the doting daughter had highlighted the brutal reality that her father is no longer with her and because of that, she'll never be able to hear those golden words, 'Happy birthday to you too, Tina baba' on her special day. She had concluded, "Year after year, he said the same thing. Something that no one else can ever say again, "Happy birthday to you too, Tina baba."" There's no denying the fact that Twinkle and Rajesh ji had shared a beautiful and close-knit bond with each other like any father-daughter duo out there. But the brave daughter is making her father proud with the way she is taking care of her family and excelling on her professional front.
