Punit J Pathak had dreamt of becoming a cricketer or a filmmaker but during his college days, he had developed a passion for dancing. But Punit’s father was against his decision of pursuing dance and had wanted him to manage the family business. When his younger brother took the responsibilities of the family business, Punit had kicked off his dancing career with the dance reality show, Dance India Dance 2 and became the second runner-up. Since then, there has been no looking back for the choreographer as once a contestant had gone on to become the mentor on the same show. Punit is also a part of movies like ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, Nawabzaade, Street Dancer and had won the ninth season of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.
On August 26, 2020, Punit J Pathak made his relationship with Nidhi Moony Singh official and announced his engagement on social media. The choreographer-actor exchanged rings with his Potter head ladylove in a private ceremony. For the engagement ceremony, while Punit looked dapper in a cream coloured kurta which he teamed with a floral jacket, Nidhi looked resplendent in a yellow-coloured saree and a red dupatta to accentuate it. Punit captioned the pictures as “To the beginning of ALWAYS! I sixth sense you @nidhimoonysingh PC: @tanmayechaudhary #engaged.”
On July 31, 2020, to mark Nidhi Moony Singh’s birthday, Punit J Pathak had posted a gorgeous black-and-white picture of his girlfriend. He had captioned it with a heartfelt note, celebrating his ‘lobster’ and the same could be read as “Happy birthday @nidhimoonysingh! Celebrating this day to celebrate YOU! you that made us - US ... celebrating this day to make you feel you are special, special in a way that I wanna celebrate you everyday!! May you be happy all the way with all your dreams coming true. In 2019 too, Punit J Pathak had penned a heartfelt birthday message for Nidhi Moony Singh and thanked her for being that person in his life, with whom he can share everything and anything. Punit had written, “Birthdays are spl when the person is spl. @nidhimoonysingh You have changed me as a person in many ways. You are the highs to my lows, you are the smiles to my sorrows. Thank you for being the person whom I can share everything and anything. Emotions come and go but what stays is the imprint. Thanks for imprinting on me! Love for you is immense but more than that is the respect that I have for you!!! Happy birthday to the beauty inside you, happy birthday to the soul inside you, happy birthday to the heart inside you, happy birthday to the madness inside you ... happy birthday to the whole you!”
In a 2018 interview with Indianexpress.com, Punit J Pathak had shared how his younger brother and mother have been a constant support in his journey. Revealing what his ultimate dream is, Punit had said, “I would always be thankful to my mother and brother for supporting me so much. My younger brother Nishit, also wanted to dance but he chose to sacrifice his dreams so that I could move ahead. And he fulfilled my father’s dreams of taking charge of the family business. He pushed me ahead and now he is also my business partner. He also took off the burden from my head by getting married earlier (laughs). So, yes, the tagline of our show ‘sapne sirf apne nahi hote’ is completely true. I love acting. I think anything that’s creative gives me a high. Also, I enjoy choreography. So someday, I hope I can utilise my love and passion to become a director.
