On August 18, 2018, Baywatch actress, Priyanka Chopra and American singer, Nick Jonas got engaged after their roka ceremony held at Priyanka’s Mumbai residence. It’s been a week now and we still can’t get over the pics and videos from Nickyanka’s (as fans affectionately call them), engagement ceremony. The couple, who is from Bareilly, where Priyanka did a part of her schooling, spoke to the Times of India and revealed, “Mimi (Priyanka’s nickname) looked gorgeous on her roka, and it felt great to be a part of the celebrations. In fact, we even stayed at Priyanka’s residence with the Chopra and Jonas family. It was a memorable stay of three days, where discussions around Bareilly kept happening”.
Raj Shekhar Juneja, an entrepreneur by profession, along with wife, Urvashi, revealed that Kevin Jonas (Nick’s father), recited a poem for his son and daughter-in-law. The couple was quoted as saying, “Nick’s parents, Kevin Jonas Sr and Denise Jonas, are quite religious and God-fearing people. They happily accepted the idea of roka and puja, and even donned traditional attire for the same. During the roka, Kevin recited a poem for Priyanka and Nick. Priyanka then danced to Desi Girl at her engagement bash, which was a treat to watch”.
Talking about Priyanka and Nick’s wedding date, Raj said, “Though everyone in the family wants Mimi to get married soon, Nick’s brother, Joe Jonas, is getting married next month, so right now the focus is on his wedding. Priyanka and Nick are yet to finalise their wedding date, but Mimi is looking forward to being a desi bride”. Speaking of their wedding, PeeCee’s mom, Madhu Chopra had recently revealed, “They haven’t decided on a wedding date yet. It’s too soon. These are just baseless rumours. Both of them have work commitments right now which they need to finish. They will take some time to decide where they want it and when they want it”.
In the same interview, Madhu ji was also all-praises for her daughter and son-in-law, Nick. She said, “I always trust Priyanka’s judgment; she’s not impulsive. She gave it a lot of thought and when she decided on something, I was sure it would be good.” Speaking of Nick, she shared, “Nick is calm and mature. He’s a wonderful person and everyone in the family just loves him. He’s so polite and respectful towards elders. What more can a mother want!”
Madhu ji also revealed that the Jonas family were nice people, “Nick enjoyed the prayers during the puja. It was a new thing for him and he took it seriously. He followed what our panditji said, and chanted the Sanskrit mantras accurately. Both he and his parents did it beautifully. They are nice people”.
