2018 will surely be remembered as a ‘year of weddings’! We saw an array of A-listed Bollywood actresses tie the knot with their loved ones. From Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and the latest actress to join the bandwagon is none other than desi at heart yet videshi superstar, Priyanka Chopra! The couple has hosted as much as three wedding receptions for different sets of people and we all thought that might be all! But looks like PeeCee quite wants to maintain her enigmatic character! What made the reception stand out of the crowd, was Priyanka and Nick’s star-studded reception saw her ex-flames and what they call, ‘rivals’ come together under the same roof! Yes, talking about a fourth ‘probable’ reception in LA, a source shared with Mid-Day, “After their honeymoon in Switzerland, Priyanka will fly down to Mumbai for a schedule of The Sky Is Pink. She will join Nick in LA towards the month-end, to host a reception for their friends. Her team is currently doing a recce in Malibu and will soon finalise a venue. It will be a black-tie event, with Priyanka’s close friends Kerry Washington, Dwayne Johnson, Ellen DeGeneres, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on the guest list. Many other Hollywood stars, including her co-stars from A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic?, and Nick’s friends from the music fraternity are also expected. Besides her family, Priyanka’s cousin Parineeti Chopra is also likely to fly down for the soiree."
Amazing right? Do you know Priyanka and Nick had invited the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to their Jodhpur wedding? But the couple had to cancel, owing to Meghan’s pregnancy. About the same, a source had shared with Harper’s Bazaar, “There are no plans”, and further added, “The couple was invited to all of the celebrations in India, but given how much travel would be involved for Meghan, who’s now five months pregnant, they decided against it.” But looks like we will finally see truckloads of royalty at yet another star-studded reception! Nickyanka had hosted their first wedding reception in New Delhi on December 04, 2018. Yet another royal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had attended their wedding reception. Sharing a candid picture from the same, Priyanka had written, “A heartfelt thank you to our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for gracing us with your presence. Priyanka and Nick’s wedding story at People magazine had it that PeeCee was holding a ‘bouquet of hyacinths and tuberoses designed by Jenya Flowers (NYC)’ while walking down the aisle. Sharing her experience about the same, Priyanka shared, “I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”
Do you know, there was a time when Priyanka’s mother, Madhu Chopra had given up on her marriage? In an interview with After Hrs, Madhu Chopra shared that she is glad with Priyanka finally finding the man of her dreams. She said, “Priyanka has always been ambitious about her career and I was just supporting her and wishing the best for her, as a mother. I used to pester her, but in the last two-three years, I had stopped. I had given up. Yeh sab cheez ka ek time hota hai, it’s all destiny.”
Like most mothers who have lost their husbands, Madhu ji shared that she got all ‘emotional’ and missed her husband, Ashok Chopra, who had always wanted to see Priyanka getting married. Speaking of what kind of a wedding she wanted (traditional Indian wedding or Christian), mommy Chopra shared, “My daughter knew I wanted a roka before the marriage, so she never said ‘no’. I haven’t forced any of my thoughts on her, but I definitely want a traditional Indian wedding. That’s my only wish. I started the roka with a puja, which is important for me. I’m a modern mother but at heart, I’m quite conservative”. And how wonderfully has PeeCee sufficed to her mother’s wishes!
