On August 17, 2018, Nick arrived with his parents in Mumbai and a day later, on August 18, 2018, Priyanka and Nick (or Nickyanka, as fans have started calling them affectionately), had their roka ceremony in the morning, followed by a rocking engagement party in the night. Who’s who of Mumbai graced the occasion and made it all starry. A few big names, among the guests, included Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani. The pics and videos from the engagement party are going viral on social media.
But the one which is making the loudest buzz is what media reports are suggesting is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement cake. After all, there could no party without a cake, right? Reportedly, famous pâtissier, Vahishta Zandbaf of Tier Nom Patisserie designed the cake. When the baker was approached by a media portal, it was revealed that this cake was for a very special couple. This 15 kg three-tier delicacy took 3 men to carry. 24 k gold leaf, gorgeous pink cymbidium orchids, hydrangeas and berries were used to ornament the cake. After their roka ceremony, both Priyanka and Nick shared the following picture on their Insta handle. PeeCee wrote, “Taken... With all my heart and soul” and her singer beau and would-be-husband, Nick wrote, “Future Mrs Jonas. My heart. My love”. Priyanka’s cousin sister, Parineeti Chopra also took to her Instagram handle and wrote about her elder sister’s engagement, “Today I witnessed magic and a fairytale ... When we were kids, mimi didi and I used to play “ghar ghar”. We would pretend to be shy brides, have imaginary children, and serve tea to our husbands! cheesy, but its because we always believed in the magic of love and hoped we would both find that perfect man for us one day!! Today there was no pretending”.
She further added, “I can’t think of a more a perfect man for her. Like I said this morning, there are two ways of judging a human being. One - travel with them, and two, eat with them. Nick, I have done both with you. And so I know you’re perfect for her!! Love her, because she loves you like mad! Protect her, because shes strong, but a soft soul inside. I love you both and wish you all the happiness forever!!!!! HAPPY ROKA AND FUTURE WEDDING!!”.
A week before their engagement, Priyanka and Nick were in Singapore where Nick had his concert. After that, the Quantico star came back to India and attended an event in Delhi. At the event when she was asked about Nick, she smartly got away from answering the questions and said, “My personal life is not for public consumption. 90% of my life is for public consumption but 10% is for me. I am a girl and I have the right to keep that to myself. My family, friendship, my relationships are things I don't think I need to defend or explain it to anyone.
