The famous Indian cricketer, Prithvi Shaw needs no introduction as he is one of the most promising youngsters in Indian cricket. Apart from playing for the national team, Prithvi plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and is a star player of the team, Delhi Capitals, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the batsman is currently in the headlines and not because of his innings, but instead of a fight that took place between him and a social media influencer, Sapna Gill, on February 15, 2023.
On February 15, 2023, Prithvi Shaw was spotted leaving the famous luxury hotel in Santacruz. But soon, he was stopped outside the hotel premises after some people attacked him with a baseball bat. For the unversed, earlier on the night, when the cricketer was entering the hotel, a social media influencer named, Sapna Gill and her friend approached him for selfies. However, the cricketer urged them for privacy and reportedly told them to go away politely. However, despite his multiple requests, the two fans continued approaching him, after which the security guards intervened and asked them to leave the hotel premises.

It looked like the matter was resolved as both parties moved in their respective directions. However, later in the night, when Prithvi Shaw was leaving the hotel in his car, some people attacked his car. The people reportedly hit the cricketer’s car with a baseball bat, and Sapna Gill was also allegedly involved in the same. As per the early reports, Sapna Gill and her friend, who were denied by Prithvi for selfies were reportedly seen attacking the cricketer with some other people. Soon after the incident, when Mumbai police took charge of the matter into their hands, Sapna was arrested for her alleged involvement in attacking Prithvi outside the hotel in Santacruz.

According to the reports, the Oshiwara police registered a case against the social media influencer, Sapna Gill and charged her with several IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections like 148 (rioting), 143 (unlawful assembly), 506 (criminal intimidation), 384 (extortion) and others. However, soon after her arrest, Sapna’s lawyer released a statement in the media and defended his client.
The advocate accused Prithvi of being drunk and using his power and money against Sapna. Not only this, but he also shared that it was the cricketer, who assaulted Sapna with a wooden bat. Amid all the commentary from both sides, the Mumbai police is still investigating the whole case, and only time will tell who is the real culprit in this case.
