It was in 2015 when Shahid Kapoor had tied the knot with 'a girl from another world', Mira Rajput and brought her into his world of fame. Shahid and Mira became parents with the arrival of their daughter, Misha Kapoor and the birth of their son, Zain Kapoor, completed their family. Mira has aced her role as a mother and is making the most of her motherhood journey with her two adorable kids. Specifically speaking about Mira Rajput Kapoor and her mother-in-law, Neliima Azeem's relationship, then the two have proved that relationships are way more different in real-life than what is showcased on-screen. Be it interviews or social media, Neliima has always been all praises for her ‘rockstar’ bahu, Mira. On the other hand, Mira too, often gives us glimpses of the Kapoor family fun on her social media handle. When Neliima had joined Instagram, the doting bahu had taken to her Insta story to welcome her mother-in-law. Mira had shared a lovely sun-kissed selfie with Neliima ji and had written, “Cool dadi finally on Insta @neliimaazeem” atop it.
Neliima Azeem, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, spoke highly of her relationship with her sons, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, daughter-in-law, Mira Rajput Kapoor and grandkids, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor. Throwing some light on her one-to-one equation with everyone, Neliima said, "Sometimes the kids sit together and they say, 'Ooh she loves Misha and Sasha (Shahid’s nickname) the most'. And I am just looking at them and I am thinking, 'God I love Ishaan and Mira so much. What are they saying? And I love Zizi (Zain) and I adore him. Toh what are they saying? I mean it's impossible for a mother or a grandmother to be able to say who she loves the most. Because I have my one to one relationship with all of them."
Revealing how her relationship with Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter is different in its own ways, Neliima Azeem stated, "I seek out Shahid for this wonderful conversation on life we have. Then our sense of humour also tallies a lot. And he is cute, very kind and sensitive. I feel wonderful and safe around him. Then with Mira, I have all the understanding of what two women who are on the same page can have and who share the same life and the same people. And we are both cool. Then with Ishaan, I have this wonderful sense of companionship. We are similar in certain ways so we move in rhythm very well together. And I feel very comfortable with Ishaan. I can just tell him, 'Ishaan mere liye yeh kardo yeh laado'. That comfort is there which is also there with Shahid. But as Ishaan is the younger one I have used to smacking him, 'Chal Ishaan yeh karde'. But amidst them all, with all of them being so kind and caring and contributing to my life in some way or the other, I will say that Mira is a pal."

Speaking of why she is closer to Mira Rajput Kapoor and the relationship she shares with her daughter-in-law's parents, Neliima Azeem remarked, "I understand her because she is young. She has got kids at a very young age. She is extremely intelligent and individual. Yet she is so kind and giving. Mira is someone who doesn’t try to get attention or seek that highlight. She is just not a brat from any side. She is very well brought up. Another reason why I feel I understand her a lot is because I am very good friends with her mom and so with her father too. Her father and I get along very well. We have a similar sense of humour and a similar personality in certain ways. But it’s her mom with whom I am developing a deeper relationship."
To mark International Women’s Day 2021, Mira Rajput Kapoor had sent love and regards to all the 'women of substance' in her life, including her mother, Bela Rajput, sisters, Priya Tulshan and Noor Wadhwani, mother-in-law, Neliima Azeem, step-mother-in-law, Supriya Pathak, and her househelps. Mira had captioned her post as "Women of substance, women of strength, women of perseverance and women of love; You inspire me! I wouldn’t be me, if it wasn’t for you! Hand in hand, and heart to heart, our strength compounds with the strength in each other. It’s the lionesses that keep the ‘pride’ together. Happy Women’s Day to all of you."
