It was an utter shock when one of the most loved legendary actors, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with an ailment and he had to rush to New York for the treatment. Initially, the reason was not known to anyone, but on New Years 2019 Neetu Singh’s cryptic post got all the limelight and gave us a major hint that he is probably suffering from cancer. Sharing a picture wherein the entire Kapoor clan was seen enjoying the New Year celebrations in New York, Neetu had captioned the post as, “Happy 2019. No resolutions only wishes this year!!! Less pollution traffic!! Hope in future cancer is only a zodiac sign !!! No hatred less poverty loads of love togetherness happiness n most imp. Good health.”
And then, Rishi’s big brother, Randhir spoke in length about the speculation that has again started doing the rounds with the Hindustan Times. He had said, “I don’t know much about it but this much I can tell you that [Rishi] is doing well, that’s all.” He had further added, “Let people say whatever they want to. That he is doing is well is evident from the photo that I, too, have seen. He is having a good time with everyone and has stepped out to enjoy a good meal. He will soon be coming back to India. We are looking forward to that right now.”
Now, Randhir ji along with his elder daughter, Karisma Kapoor visited Rishi in the US. Neetu Singh took to her official Instagram handle and shared a lovely click with Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor. In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor gave an update on her father’s illness. She had said, “He’s fine, nothing to worry about. I was never worried anyway. He’s just getting his routine tests done, as he said on Twitter, after so many years of wear and tear. He’s getting everything done, so hoping for the best.”
Also, in an interaction with NDTV, she had talked in length about her father and was quoted as saying, “My dad is as honest on Twitter as he is in real life - he is a very straightforward and that's what's amazing because, in today's times, we need more people like him who are not afraid to speak their mind and are totally frank about certain issues, so kudos to him.”
Even prior to this, in an interaction with ET, Randhir ji was quoted as saying, "We don't know yet what is the exact nature of his ailment. Rishi himself doesn't know what he's suffering from. He has not even started undergoing tests there; how can people speculate that he has cancer and that too, one that has escalated to advanced stage." The Jawani Diwani actor had further added, “Let him undergo tests peacefully; whatever the results, we will let everyone know. He only reached America two-three days ago and so far, he was being prepared for the tests that he has to undergo. Depending on what the results are, his line of treatment, medication and other modalities will be decided upon. It’s not fair to speculate things just like that.”
As per Bollywood Bubble reports earlier, a source had stated, “Flown to the US for treatment. The doctors have called him in for a 45-day treatment that includes chemotherapy sessions too. Rishi along with Neetu, Ranbir are currently staying there and now Ranbir will have to come back to begin shooting for his films. Which is when Ridhima Kapoor Sahni will be travelling to be with mom and dad. The source had further revealed, “Shooting of Rishi’s film with Juhi Chawla is completely stalled. The producers, Sony don’t want to continue with a replacement. They have put the movie on hold. He’s going to be treated a little differently because he always had a back problem. The doctors are also taking that into consideration. It’s not known which cancer he is suffering from yet.”
Before moving to the US, Rishi Kapoor himself had tweeted, "I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It's been 45 years 'plus' of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!"
