Natural Look For Your Wedding

What woman does not want to look glamorous and gorgeous on her wedding day? After all, it is her moment to shine.

For most brides-to-be, this means innumerable trips to the salon before the wedding, being manicured, pedicured, waxed and plucked within an inch of their lives. Most women do not object to it, after all, you only get married once, right?

But just because you are getting married does not mean that you have to change everything about who you are. If you are a wash and go kind of gal in real life, you do not have to necessarily spend hours at the salon on your wedding day getting your make up done. After all, Kate Middleton did her own makeup for her wedding day. So why do you think you are better than a princess?

Besides, if you’ve been a plain Jane all your life, then getting heavily made up on your wedding day will make you feel uncomfortable. Don’t you think that you deserve to enjoy your wedding day? Besides, what is the point in gilding a lily?

I’m not suggesting that you go entirely without makeup, mind you, merely that subtle makeup will complement your features. Natural wedding makeup can add a sparkle to your eyes, definition to your lips and ensure that your skin looks flawless.

The Face

To make sure your makeup stays fresh all day prepare your skin on your wedding morning by cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing-- this will also provide a good base for your foundation.Use a light to medium coverage foundation which will conceal any imperfections but give a natural, radiant finish. Liquid foundations tend to give the most photogenic finish but whether you use a liquid, cream, mousse or powder foundation will depend on your skin type.

The Eyes

Eyeshadow - Use subtle eyeshadow colours such as beige and brown, beige and bronze, platinum and grey or cream and gold.

Eyeliner - Use a brown or grey eyeliner for a softer look. For extra definition apply the eyeliner on your upper and lower lash lines.

Mascara - Choose a natural lengthening mascara and apply a couple of coats to both the lower and upper lashes. Brown mascara will look softer than black mascara.

The Lips

Choose a colour one or two shades darker than your natural lip colour for the most natural look. As a general rule, this could be soft pink, beige or apricot for fair skins; rose, mauve or berry for medium or olive skins; and rich brown or dark plum for black skins. Use a matching lipliner to outline and define the shape of your lips. If you fill in your lips with the liner it will help your lipstick's staying power.

To add an extra dimension to your lipstick and plump your lips use a clear or glittery lip gloss over your lipstick.

The Cheeks

Choose a blusher which complements your natural cheek colour. This can be apricot, pink, mauve or plum depending on your natural skin tone. For a neat and sophisticated look use a blusher which matches your lipstick.
