This much-awaited beautiful moment of becoming a bride came into Mona Singh’s life on December 27, 2019 when she had walked down the aisle with the love of her life, Shyam Rajagopalan. For the wedding, Mona had looked resplendent in a red lehenga, and Shyam had complemented her in an off-white-coloured sherwani. Posting the first-ever picture with her husband from their wedding, Mona had written, “Love laughter and a happily ever after.”
In June 2020, IANS had announced that Scandinavian producers, Roope Lehtinen and Mikko Polla's crime drama, Black Widows is getting an Indian adaptation, as a web series on Zee5. Mona Singh was roped in for the web series along with Shamita Shetty, Swastika Mukherjee, Sharad Kelkar, Raima Sen, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Aamir Ali. Since the team is shooting in Kolkata for the web series, when Mona turned a year older on October 8, 2020, her hubby, Shyam Rajagopalan surprised her on the sets of the show. Mona’s happiness knew no bounds as she celebrated her first birthday post-wedding with her husband and the team of Black Widows. To mark the completion of 5 months of married life, Mona Singh had posted a picture of two wine glasses, giving a glimpse of the celebrations. When Mona Singh had tied the knot with Shyam Rajagopalan, not much was known about their love story and how they had met. Just like her relationship, Mona had kept her marriage too, guarded from the media and it was an intimate wedding. In a post-wedding interview with the DNA, Mona had revealed what connected her with Shyam and the qualities she like about him. Mona had remarked, "I have known him for the last five years. I met him through a friend at a friend's birthday party and we hit it off. He is a very funny man that was a big tick for me. I like people with a good sense of humour. What I like about him is that he lets me be. He doesn't want to change a single thing about me. I can be very annoying at times, but he is very cool. I like him. He respects me; I respect him. We give each other space."
Speaking about Shyam Rajagopalan’s on-the-road proposal, Mona Singh had elaborated, "He proposed to me in October just before my birthday. I was so surprised by the entire episode of the proposal. I was in his car and he popped out the ring in the middle of the road. He just asked me out of the blue if I would marry him and put the ring in my hand. I was like, 'Arre, at least, let me reply yes or no'. Everyone on the road was giving us gaalis."
