Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor are the epitome of love ever since they tied the knot. We still remember the 21-year-old, Mira's face when she had walked out of the Mumbai airport holding Shahid's hand. She knew not much about the world of glam and glitz but she was adamant on making a beautiful world with the love of her life and as 'Mrs Kapoor'. And four year down the line, Mira is living the life, every girl dreams of with a handsome husband, and two little kids. She had also made the world believe that her identity not only consists of being just a star wife. While the world had labeled her as a 'trophy wife', she has defied them all with her honest opinions.
Recently, in an interview with the Vogue magazine, Mira had finally answered the question of her 14-year age difference with husband, Shahid. She shared, "His fluidity towards life is another quality I love. It’s helped me ease up a lot. He’s lived longer, so if anything, I can benefit from his experience, and he can benefit from my fresh perspective."
In the same interview, Mira also shared how she picked up life in Mumbai (that is completely different from the life of Delhiites). She said, "I really didn’t think about it as so many challenges to overcome. The change from Delhi to Mumbai was actually a very pleasant one. I love South Bombay! In fact, we celebrated our anniversary with a meal at The Table in Colaba. I’ve also picked up on the way of life and way of dressing here. Shahid also revealed an interesting incident when she made Mira watch one of his movie, Udta Punjab (2016), "We sat together on a sofa and somewhere around the interval she had moved five feet away to the other edge. She looked at me and said, ‘You’re not this guy, right? Is this guy anywhere inside you? Tell me now while I can still walk away!"
Talking about their first meeting, Shahid shared his reaction that crossed his mind, and said, "The only thought going through my mind was, ‘Here we are, sitting in this room on these two big sofas with nobody else around. Are we even going to last 15 minutes?’"
Coming back to their love story, in an interview with The Times of India, Shahid had split the beans on it. He had shared, "I remember I went to her house for the first time and I was in the Tommy zone. So, I had a ponytail, drop-crotch track pants and weird shoes on. I recall getting out of the car in this avatar at Mira's farmhouse in Delhi. Her dad came out to welcome his son-in-law to be. He saw how I was dressed and he surely thought - 'God what is my daughter getting married to.' He barely looked at me, then whispered 'Come inside' and went away."
He had further shared, "She is this 20-something girl coming out of LSR College and she was like 'What?' And when I told her I am playing a character called Tommy, she said, 'That is not the name of a guy, it is the name of a dog."
In another interview, Mira had talked about the concept of arranged marriage, and had stated, "Why not (go for an arranged marriage)? You have to meet someone in some way! It worked for us so beautifully because both of us laid our cards in the open in the beginning. We were ourselves. There was a different kind of discovery after marriage but there was no negative surprise. I understood the role I had to take and he (Shahid) understood that he had to become a part of my life. Both of us have given and taken a lot of each other and we have become more wholesome. It’s two halves that make a whole."
