It was in 2017 when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had officially announced their engagement and a year later, post their wedding, she became Duchess of Sussex. In 2019, Meghan and Harry embraced parenthood with the arrival of their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, and a year later, the couple had decided to step down as senior members of the royal family. After living for a few months in Canada and the United States, Meghan and Harry bought a house on the former estate of Riven Rock in Montecito, California. In 2021, the couple had announced that they’re expecting their second child after suffering a miscarriage last year. Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had renounced their royal status, the couple is hitting the headlines. Now that the couple will soon be making an appearance for a conversation with Oprah Winfrey, royal fans can’t wait for the pre-recorded interview. Ahead of the interview, CBS had released two teasers and it was Meghan’s choice of jewellery that had stolen the limelight. The to-be second-time mother, Meghan had opted for a black mid-length dress which she paired with a necklace and a bracelet. Her bracelet was a tribute to Princess Diana. Reportedly, this was the same bracelet of Princess Diana from which Prince Harry had taken two stones to get Meghan's engagement ring made.
On March 3, 2021, CBS released another clip of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview, in which she accused the royal family of "perpetuating falsehoods" about the couple. When Oprah asked Meghan, "How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?" in regards to her relationship with the royal family, she replied, "I don't know how they could expect that after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that the firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us. And if that comes with the risk of losing things, I mean -- there's a lot that has been lost already."
It was in 2020 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had stepped down from their royal titles and an official statement from the Palace had stated, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed to Her Majesty The Queen that they will not be returning as working members of The Royal Family. While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family." A spokesperson of the couple had said, "As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal." (Also Read: David Beckham's Wife, Victoria Beckham Wishes Their Son Brooklyn Beckham On His Birthday [See Photo])
In their engagement announcement official interview, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had revealed how much they had known each other before being introduced by their common friend. Speaking to BBC's Mishal Husain, when Harry was asked if he had seen Meghan on TV, he had retorted, “No, I’d never, never even heard about her until this friend said "Meghan Markle." I was like right, "OK, give me, give me a bit of background."(Meghan Markle laughs). "Like what’s going on here?" So no, I’d never, I’d never watched "Suits," I’d never heard of Meghan before. And I was beautifully surprised when I, when I walked into that room and saw her. There she was sitting there, I was like, "OK, well, I’m really gonna have to up my game!" (laughs) Sit down and have a, and make sure I’ve got good chat.”
Revealing that because they didn’t know a lot about each other, Meghan Markle felt it was really refreshing to have met Prince Harry in person. She was quoted as saying, “I think for both of us though, it was, it was really refreshing because given that I didn’t know a lot about him. Everything that I’ve learned about him, I learned through him. As opposed to having grown up around different news stories, or tabloids, or whatever else. Anything I learned about him and his family was what he would share with me. And, vice versa. So for both of us, it was just a really authentic and organic way to get to know each other.” (Also Read: Kim Kardashian Demands This Property From Estranged-Hubby, Kanye West Post-Divorce For Their 4 Kids?)
