Manisha Koirala Pens An Emotional Note On Her 'Arduous Cancer Journey', Posts Picture From Hospital

The gorgeous Manisha Koirala is one of the most critically acclaimed actresses of the '90s and has often swooned us with her spectacular performances. Granddaughter of former Prime Minister of Nepal, Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, Manisha had made her Bollywood debut with the film, Saudagar in 1991. With movies like 1942: A Love Story, Bombay, Agni Sakshi, Gupt, Dil Se and many more, Manisha had won the hearts of millions.

However, in 2012, the stunning actress was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Once in an interview with the IANS, Manisha had revealed that mere diagnosis of her cancer was 'death' for her. The Dil Se actress is a cancer survivor and had also penned a memoir titled, Healed: How Cancer Gave Me A New Life.

On November 7, 2021, Manisha Koirala took to her IG handle and penned an emotional note on her arduous journey of cancer treatment to mark the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day. Manisha also posted pictures of her cancer journey, wherein in one of the pictures, she was seen resting in a hospital bed. Along with the pictures, Manisha wrote:

"On this National Cancer Awareness Day, I want to wish everyone who is going through this arduous journey of cancer treatment, a lot of love and success. "I know the journey is tough, but you are tougher than that." I want to pay my respects to those who succumbed to it and celebrate it with those who conquered it. We need to spread the awareness on the disease and all the stories that are filled with hope need to be told and retold. Lets be kind to ourselves and to the world. I'd pray for everyones health and wellbeing."

In an interaction with author-journalist, Sathya Saran, Manisha had revealed that there was a time when she used to ask her doctors the much-dreaded question - 'how much time she has left'. But with the passage of time she had made peace with fear and death. She had shared:

"There was a time I would ask the doctors to give me a guarantee of how much time I have, but gradually, I made peace with fear and death. That’s what taught me to make the most of all I have, and it has now become an extension of my personality."

In an interview with the PTI, Manisha had shared that cancer came as a teacher to her and taught her to value life and not take people and her journey for granted. She had said that there was a time when she had taken life for granted and had neglected her health and that's when cancer became a major lesson in her life. Now, she values her life and family more and tries to enjoy life as much as she can.
