Mandira Bedi's happy paradise had faced the biggest blow on June 30, 2021, when her husband had taken his last breath after suffering a cardiac arrest. Raj's untimely death had shattered Mandira, but it couldn't deter her spirits and keeping a brave face, she picked up the pieces of her broken heart for the sake of their kids, Vir Kaushal and Tara Bedi Kaushal.
As per Raj's friend, music director, Sulaiman Merchant, Raj had complained about getting a heart attack at 4 am, and Mandira along with their close friend, Ashish Chawdhry had rushed him to the hospital. But before they could reach the hospital, Raj had left the world forever, leaving behind Mandira and their kids, Vir and Tara.

On October 27, 2021, Mandira took to her IG handle and unveiled Raj Kaushal's last project, Akkad Bakkad Rafu Chakkar. As she shared the poster of the upcoming series, Mandira penned an emotional note for her late husband, Raj and revealed how passionate he was towards his work. Her emotional note can be read as:
"Raj had a crazy passion for his work and when a great idea hit him, there would be a sparkle in his eye and a new spring in his step. And he had that look his eye and that unabating high energy all through the writing and making of #AkkadBakkad. His belief and passion for the project, is what drove him and is there for all to see in the show."
Mandira further shared how it breaks her heart to see that Raj is not there to witness his labour of love and continued:
"It breaks my heart that he can’t see his labour of love, see its natural and successful end. But am thankful to #AmazonPrimeVideo for seeing the show through and putting out his last piece of work. I hope audiences enjoy it as much as he did making it."
Six days after her husband, Raj Kaushal’s death, Mandira Bedi had paid a silent tribute to him. Mandira had deleted her Instagram profile picture and had added a black image. She had also shared pictures from her 20th-anniversary celebrations with her late husband, which was the last one they had celebrated together. In her caption, she had added a heartbroken emoticon.

In an interview with PTI, Mandira Bedi had talked about the changes post her husband, Raj's death and had shared:
"My children are now my world. They are my biggest motivation which helps me keep going on and doing better. Everything I do, I do for them. They are my reason to carry on, my reason to live, to do better, to be better. It is because of them I have this much courage, strength. I need to be a good parent for them."
Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal had known each other for 25 years!
