While we are not sure if Alia Bhatt’s friends reacted the same way when Ranbir Kapoor passed by (since Alia had always revealed that she is a big fan of Ranbir and that she had a huge crush on him), but things are definitely moving very fast for the duo. From going on romantic dates, turning photographers for each other, flaunting one’s jersey number, standing by each other’s families in times of need and most importantly, both the families being ‘raazi’ for the couple’s marriage, looks like all’s set in place for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
While the couple themselves have remained mum about their relationship, but their families have been very upfront about them and always dropped major hints about their bond. And now, Alia’s daddy dear, Mahesh Bhatt has finally confirmed his daughter and ‘probable’ son-in-law’s relationship and we couldn’t be more excited! In an interview with The Telegraph, the Raaz director revealed, “Well, of course they’re in love. You don’t need to be a genius to get that! I love Ranbir… he’s a great guy. What they do to their relationship is something they’ll have to figure out.”
Disclosing their marriage plans, Mahesh ji shared, “Whether it’s heading towards that port called ‘marriage’ — which is an institution that needs to be questioned in the second decade of the 21st century — is something for them to figure out. I’m no one to hazard a guess when that would happen or which way the relationship is going. It’s life and life needs to be lived on its own terms. Let’s wait and see what tomorrow brings for us!”
A while back, when Mahesh ji was asked about Alia-Ranbir’s relationship by Hindustan Times, he had replied, “Oh, the paparazzi age is here and you have people from the outside using their premise to capture the image, because that’s what the nation is thrusting for. Mahesh ji was also asked if he advises his daughter on matters pertaining to her relationships and personal life. To this, the doting daddy had then shared, “It’s very obvious that [Ranbir-Alia] are making no bones about talking to people about them being intimate. And I don’t belong to that category of parents who’d advise their children about their personal choices. Alia is an adult and it’s a matter that she has to resolve. It’s their life, their space. I respect and admire them for choosing to talk to the world when, and if, they want to do.”

In an interview with Mid-Day sometime back, Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor indirectly dropped every possible confirmation on Alia and Ranbir’s budding relationship. He shared, “Jo hai woh hai, sabko pata hai. I don't need to say anything more.”
The Mulk actor also shared that he feels that its time Ranbir starts thinking about his marriage seriously. Rishi Kapoor revealed, “It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don't have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone.” He further shared, “[Be it] Ranbir or his contemporaries, actors have blinkers on and are focused on their work. The only women they meet are the actresses. They don't socialise as much; that is the flipside of life in the movies.”
Not just Ranbir’s father, his sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, too, totally approves of her brother and Alia’s relationship. It was started when Alia posted an Insta story wherein, she shared a pic of a beautiful bracelet which her ‘to-be-nanad’ had gifted her!
